Meet the Associate Director of Duke Center for Health Policy:
Q: What does a so smart policy setting big shot Duke academic elite do in his spare time?
A: Rape his adopted black babies and furthermore sell them wholesale to random abominators, of course! Social Science!
The affidavit says the informant described “cooper2” as a white man in his mid-40s, tall and of medium build, clean-shaven with brown hair and wearing glasses. The informant told agents that he saw “cooper2” perform sex acts on a young African-American child via these online chats on multiple occasions. The affidavit said the informant’s description of the man he met online corresponded with the description of Frank Mccorkle Lombard.

ICUii also shared with the FBI a complaint filed in January 2007 against Frank Lombard from another user. That user alleged Lombard said he "was into incest" and had adopted two African-American children, the affidavit says.

On Monday, according to the affidavit, Det. Timothy Palchak of the Washington Metropolitan Police Department, chatted online with a person using the name “F.L.” Palchak said “F.L.” described specific sex acts he had performed on a 5-year-old child and said that he lived in Durham.

A search warrant filed for Lombard's house further outlines the case against him, and includes a transcript of the chat between Palchak and "F.L."

In the chat transcript, "F.L." is asked how he got access to a child so young. "Adopted," he replied, and said that the process was "not so hard ... esp (sic) for a black boy."

In the chat, "F.L.” told Palchak that abusing the child was "easier when he was too young to know what was happening and when he couldn't talk ...He had a little too much Benadryl. Was knocked out."
Duke Center for Health Policy
The Center for Health Policy (CHP) is an instigator and facilitator of research related to a broad range of public health issues and the policies that address them. Its mission is to stimulate and facilitate research in health policy, disseminate findings from this research to policy makers, and provide educational opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students seeking careers in health policy.

The Center has more than 20 research projects currently underway overseas and in North Carolina that address important health disparity issues among resource-poor communities.

CHP-affiliated faculty collaborate with research colleagues from the Duke Schools of Business, Law, Environment, Engineering, Divinity, Medicine, Nursing, and from Arts and Sciences. CHP-affiliated faculty also teach many of Duke’s health policy courses.

A core project of the Center for Health Policy is the Health Inequalities Program (HIP), which tests and translates interventions to reduce health disparities through training, information technology, evaluation, and international development. A major emphasis of HIP is to address health inequalities in populations which are disadvantaged in terms of race/ethnicity, gender, income, geography and other social factors.

The Center for Health Policy’s current research areas include:

* Communicable Infections
* Substance Abuse
* Medicaid / Medicare
* Aging / Chronic Disease
* Training
* Information Technology
* International

Sorry Neda, We Have a Pedophile to Worship
Americans know far more about Michael Jackson than they do about the history of Iran and its relationship to the United States. Most of what America knows is wrong, having been subjected to pertinacious propaganda in Ayers’ based public education.

Which is why the interest in the life and death of Neda Agah-Soltan was so facilely dwarfed by the opulent freak show that surrounds Michael Jackson.

Eerie calm masks Iran tensions
In the centre of Tehran there are many fewer security forces on the streets. A stadium where Basij militia - an arm of the Revolutionary Guard - were based is now being used for sport again. But the power of the regime is not far from the surface. On the main avenues black cars with the words special police painted on them move steadily through the traffic, each one containing four or five men in camouflage uniforms. It has been much quieter these last few days. One elderly witness said she felt it was the calm of the grave.

Syria Expecting Visit by "Prominent Arab Leader"
According to the Saudi daily Al-Watan, Syria is preparing for a visit by "a prominent Arab leader." It should be noted that rumors have been circulating in the Arab press regarding a possible visit of Saudi King 'Abdallah to Damascus.

Hizb ut-Tahrir America (HTA) has indicated that it has transitioned from its covert status to a public phase of operations by issuing an announcement, signed in its own name, that it will host a conference in July 2009 to support the establishment of a Caliphate. The promotional video can be viewed on YouTube. The event, titled “The Fall of Capitalism and Rise of Islam,” is scheduled for Sunday, July 19th, 2009, at the Aqsa School in Bridgeview, Illinois.
The US State Department has appointed its first Special Representative to Muslim Communities
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Farah Pandith would play a leading role in US efforts to "engage Muslims around the world".
Dr. Paul Williams: Farah Pandith: Obama’s Recycled Envoy to the Muslim World
For those delusional souls who insist on embracing every unsubstantiated statement, and shallow, whimsical appointment made by the Administration, may I remind you of these uncomfortable facts.

The Obama-Clinton envoy to the “Muslim World” has, since 2007, been George W. Bush’s “Senior Advisor for Muslim Engagement”. Perhaps Ms.Pandith’s appointment is part of an energy saving and recycling scheme. There certainly will not be much of a carbon footprint cast in D.C. since Farah has held virtually the same position for over two years. She won’t even have to move offices.

The main significance of the Bush-Obama-Clinton envoy is her gender. Islam’s representatives to the Judeo-Christian World have traditionally been bearded males.

Osama bin Laden , Ayman al-Zawahiri , and Ayatollah Ali Khamenei should be favorably impressed by Ms.Pandith’s re-appointment.

US reverses Afghan drug policy, eyes August vote
We are now the world's largest supplier of heroin.
Washington is to dramatically overhaul its Afghan anti-drug strategy, phasing out opium poppy eradication, the U.S. envoy to Pakistan and Afghanistan told allies on Saturday.

Richard Holbrooke, attending a G8 conference on stabilising Afghanistan, also discussed efforts to support its Aug. 20 election. Washington has nearly doubled its troops to combat a growing Taliban insurgency and provide security for the vote.

"The Western policies against the opium crop, the poppy crop, have been a failure. They did not result in any damage to the Taliban, but they put farmers out of work," Holbrooke told Reuters after a series of bilateral meetings in Italy.

"We are not going to support crop eradication. We're going to phase it out," he said. The emphasis would instead be on intercepting drugs and chemicals used to make them, and going after drug lords.

Oil firms to scramble for Iraq deals on live TV

The secretive world of Middle East oil deals will be thrown open in Baghdad next week when a contract auction is broadcast live, shining a spotlight on big oil dealmakers that prefer to stay behind the scenes.

"This is shaping up to be unlike anything I have ever been involved in," said one senior executive for a major western oil company. "It is quite unique and will be some theater. I don't think any of us really know how this is going to work out."

Bids for contracts for six of Iraq's largest oilfields and two untapped gas fields will be opened in front of the cameras and the world's media on June 29-30 in Baghdad. The bids will be compared and contracts awarded there and then.

After the first contract is awarded, competing firms would have a chance to go back and revise the terms of their next bid.

That is where the process could come to resemble a live TV game show.

Russia won't participate in Jewish documents suit
Russia told a U.S. court on Friday that judges have no authority to tell the country how to handle sacred Jewish documents held in its state library that were seized by the Nazi and Soviet armies.

The documents are at the center of a lawsuit brought by members of Chabad-Lubavitch, which follows the teachings of Eastern European rabbis and emphasizes the study of the Torah. The group is suing Russia in U.S. court to recover thousands of manuscripts, prayers, lectures and philosophical discourses by leading rabbis dating back to the 18th century.

The case is being handled by the chief judge of the U.S. District Court in Washington, Royce Lamberth, who in January ordered Russia to preserve the documents over Chabad's fears they are not being properly cared for and could be sold on the black market.

But Russia said in its filing Friday that even though it respects the U.S. court, it would not participate in the litigation to protect its sovereignty. Russia said the United States should use diplomatic channels to address any concerns it has about the collection and that Chabad can pursue claims in Russian courts.

Russia warns G8 against isolating Iran
"Isolating Iran is the wrong approach," Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said following talks with his Italian counterpart Franco Frattini in the northeastern city of Trieste.

Asked whether the G8 should harshly criticise Iran for its crackdown, Lavrov answered "no one wants to condemn" Tehran and insisted that the international community should maintain dialogue.

US, Russia to sign military pact
THE United States and Russia will sign a military cooperation agreement when US President Barack Obama visits next month.

The announcement reflects warming ties between Moscow and Washington and would have been unthinkable last August when the Georgia crisis pushed their relations to the lowest point since the Cold War.

Nikolai Makarov, the head of Russia's General Staff, announced the pact after meeting his US counterpart Admiral Mike Mullen in Moscow. "We determined the basic matters of military cooperation in 2009 and in the future and intend to sign these documents during US President Barack Obama's visit to Moscow at the beginning of July," Mr Makarov said.

Executive Outcomes fought on behalf of the Angolan government and ended the civil war
Executive Outcomes was a private military company founded in South Africa by former Lieutenant-Colonel of the South African Defence Force Eeben Barlow in 1989. It was controlled by the South Africa-based holding company Strategic Resource Corporation. The Privatisation of Violence: New mercenaries and the state ~ Christopher Wrigley CAAT March 1999

Executive Outcomes provided military personnel, training and logistical support to officially recognized governments only. They were however often accused of providing the military strength for corporations to control natural resources in failed states or conflict-ridden areas, because these governments mostly paid for their services with mining concessions.

Medved: Q& A with African Journalists
There is currently a great deal of interest in Africa, and there are representatives here from all the major international players. The Peoples Republic of China, the United States, and the European Union are working actively here. Are we any worse? We must do the same, especially since we have many close, trusted friends whom we have truly helped and who are ready to develop relations with us, not through a strictly charitable agenda, but on a mutually beneficial basis. This is something that we will certainly work on.

Grain pool of Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan to trade on closed markets
They must to control your food supply to break you.

Ukraine, Russia and Kazakhstan, uniting to the grain pool - union of countries-exporters of grains, are able to enter the markets, formerly closed for the countries, including markets of the North Africa and the Middle East, declared Alex Lissitsa, the president of the association "Ukrainian club of agrarian business". But Ukraine will face the most difficulties in such terms.

Russia recently has founded the United grain company - the national institution of regulating of the grain market of Russia. Kazakhstan concentrates the majority of grain trading under the control of the government. But to date, Ukraine doe not have any governmental player on the export market of grains, marked A.Lissitsa.

At the same time, Ukraine has large advantage compared to partners from Russia and Kazakhstan: Ukraine has true output to sea ways, according to the president of the association. At the same time, Ukraine produces and exports large-scale volumes of own grains. In the current marketing year, Ukraine will export nearly 29 mln tons of grains and oilseeds, noticed A.Lissitsa.

US Payoff Keeps Key Hub for Afghanistan Open
After promising to evict the U.S. military from its territory, the government of Kyrgyzstan has reversed course: Its parliament yesterday ratified an agreement that will allow American forces to maintain access to Manas Air Base, a key supply hub for Afghanistan. The deal follows months of behind-the-scenes maneuvering, with Russia more or less openly pressuring the Kyrgyz government to close the base, and U.S. officials scrambling to keep access. So what happened? The Kyrgyz government got a rent increase, for starters. On background, Pentagon officials confirmed that the United States agreed to pay $60 million a year to use the base — a substantial increase over the $17.4 million previously paid in annual rent. The base will be redesignated as a “transit center.”

Bernanke Defends His Record on Bank of America Talks

So Explain This: The Nationalization Of US Banks
Our story comes from a New York Times article from October of 2008. Then Secretary of the Treasury Henry Paulson called the chief executives of the nine biggest banks in the United States – all in Washington for a meeting of the International Monetary Fund – into his office.

He then handed them a document saying they would sell shares of their company to the government, and that would have to sign it before they left the room. Flush with new TARP money, Secretary Paulson made the call that the banks would all need an infusion of capital to allow them to begin trading together again in hopes of spurring the economy.

Some banks, such as JPMorgan Chase, were more than happy to accept the money. Others, like Wells Fargo, felt that they didn't need an injection of cash. That mattered not, though, as every single bank agreed to the terms by the end of the evening.

Moreover, as with any scenario in which the government funds another entity, strings were attached to this deal. More specifically, there were limits on executive compensation placed. There was not, however, a big push to change day to day operations, from what I have researched.

Wasteful spending highlights the list of US stimulus projects
U.S. Sen. Tom Coburn wants to shed light on the wasteful spending in the federal stimulus and his list includes projects in his home state of Oklahoma. One of the 100 examples Coburn has compiled is $1.5 million in “free” stimulus money for a new wastewater treatment plant results in higher utility costs for residents of Perkins, Okla.

Another is $1.15 million for installation of a new guardrail for the non-existent Optima Lake in Oklahoma. There is no lake - it’s a dry hole.

Coburn’s report, 100 Stimulus Projects: A Second Opinion, is available in its entirely on his website. “Why is the federal government wasting your tax dollars on a guardrail for a ‘lake’ that doesn’t even contain any water?” Coburn asked. The 100 projects he lists- worth $5.5 billion - range from Maine to California.
Goldman Sachs responds to Taibbi
Van Praag told me that in the wake of the events of the past year or two, Goldman’s partners have pretty much lost their appetite for going into public service. Maybe that’s for the best. They are generally smart and talented and knowledgeable people, and I daresay that many of them have done a lot of good after leaving the firm and joining government.

At the same time, however, we’re supposed to have a government of the people, not a government of multimillionaire Goldman Sachs technocrats. And when you have the latter, you’re inevitably going to end up with a lot of mistrust and conspiracy theories sooner or later, whether they’re well-founded or not.
Is Goldman Sachs the Root of All Evil?
#1: The Great Depression
Goldman was one of the banks running a sort of Ponzi scheme during the Great Depression that helped cause it.

#2: Tech Stocks
Goldman was the biggest underwriter to push eventually worthless technology stocks into the market through initial public offerings.

#3: The Housing Craze
Goldman was involved in creating and selling collateralized debt obligations, one of the securities that helped create the financial crisis.

#4: $4 A Gallon
Goldman helped to ignite commodity prices, which led to oil prices going way up.

#5: Rigging the Bailout
Goldman had alumni in place throughout the government to make sure it benefited from the bailout.

#6: Global Warming
Goldman is pushing cap and trade because it stands to make money hand over fist once carbon trading begins.
Summit gives UN role in solving economic crisis
More than 140 countries agreed Friday on a blueprint giving the U.N. a new role representing developing countries hit hard by the world's worst economic crisis in 70 years.

The 15-page document, which is not legally binding, makes clear that a solution to the economic crisis must include the views of all 192 U.N. member states and cannot be left just to the Group of Eight major industrialized nations or the Group of 20 key countries that account for over 80 percent of the global economy.

General Assembly President Miguel D'Escoto Brockmann called the document "a great achievement" adding, "the G192, has now been established as a central forum for the discussion of world financial and economic issues."

The document is short on specifics and leaves some demands by rich and poor countries unmet, but D'Escoto said it was "the first step in a long process of putting the world on a new path toward solidarity, stability and sustainability."

Government Gone Mad in a Total Surveillance Society
Let me make it clearer. Because you believe in limited government, oppose immigration or abortion, or profess to be a Christian, you are being targeted by government as a threat. Total surveillance through Real ID and biometric data banks will be used to monitor and control your movements. E-Verify will be used to control whether you work or not. You can be shut out of society, unable to open a bank account, travel, or even drive a car because - just like the no-fly list - you will be targeted as an enemy of the state - all because of your political beliefs. You are the target in a nation where the government has gone mad. Do you feel safer yet?
FBI compounds mystery with secret justification of gag order
When the FBI uses a national security letter (NSL) to force the cooperation of an ISP or phone company in the surveillance of a suspect, the agency typically slaps a gag order on the service provider to prevent it from revealing the existence of the NSL. Civil liberties groups have successfully challenged the DOJ on these gag orders in the ongoing Doe v. Holder, and last month the Obama administration decided not to appeal a federal court ruling that the FBI must justify these gag orders by meeting a relatively high First Amendment standard.

The implication of the court's ruling was that the FBI would finally have to justify the gag order that it had placed on the John Doe in the Doe v. Holder case, so that the plaintiff could talk about the NSL. The FBI has now cooperated, and has given the court a justification of the gag order, in secret.

Obama offers 7-year protection for biotech drugs
The Obama administration said biogeneric drugs should be protected from competition for seven years, calling it a “generous compromise” between competing plans.
Biogeneric Drugs?
Biogenerics is the new buzzword in the biotech industry and is all set to create a revolution in the next couple of years. Biotech companies are hoping to reap the same levels of success as the large pharma generic players. Many of the patented biopharmaceuticals are going off patent in 2006 itself, paving way for the boom in the biogenerics market. Biogenerics are likely to expand the usage of biotech based medications in a big way as the high prices of the original biotech drugs restricted their reach even in emergency care like cancer and renal failures.

Rehabilitating Eugenics
Princeton U ~ 2005
Instead, devotees of the new eugenics invoke the languages of choice and prevention. “Children of choice,” “Redesigning Humans, “Remaking Eden,” – these are just a few of the book titles by advocates of the new eugenics. Supporters of the new eugenics frequently invoke freedom as the animating influence behind their support for the new eugenics (one recent book title is “Liberation Biology”).

But it is choice and prevention that actually guide them. Choice and prevention, of course, are not inconsistent with the principles of a modern liberal democracy, and both are frequently invoked as rationales for a range of decisions we make as a society – about everything from abortion to terrorism. Both, however, suffer from serious weaknesses as guiding philosophies for our new genetic age.

The earlier incarnation of eugenics reached its logical conclusion in the horrific policies of fascist Germany. But the new incarnation of eugenics is thriving in the societies where it first flourished in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century– liberal democracies.

Exploring this question requires two things: First, debunking the myth, still embraced by many, that eugenics and liberal democracy are incompatible. History shows us how well suited they are. The fact that liberal democracies, including our own, now have in place protections against the kind of state-sponsored eugenics popular in the early twentieth century does not mean we have escaped the siren song of eugenics. It merely means that we have found new ways to justify our ineradicable desire to improve ourselves. Second, we must trace the three pathways by which eugenics has been rehabilitated: through science, politics, and culture. In doing so we can begin to understand why an increasing number of Americans believe that the new eugenics is inevitable, and why it is no longer shocking to ask the question: must eugenics be a dirty word?

"Exquisite little creature!" said the Director, looking after her. Then, turning to his students, "What I'm going to tell you now," he said, "may sound incredible. But then, when you're not accustomed to history, most facts about the past do sound incredible."

He let out the amazing truth. For a very long period before the time of Our Ford, and even for some generations afterwards, erotic play between children had been regarded as abnormal (there was a roar of laughter); and not only abnormal, actually immoral (no!): and had therefore been rigorously suppressed. A look of astonished incredulity appeared on the faces of his listeners. Poor little kids not allowed to amuse themselves? They could not believe it.
Communist UN Boss Praises 'Mother Earth'
A performance as gripping as that of South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford admitting to adultery was turned in by Miguel D’Escoto, the President of the UN General Assembly, when he declared that “There is a growing awareness that we are all sons and daughters of Earth and that we belong to her.” He urged “a planetary civilization” that is “more respectful of Mother Earth, more inclusive of all people and with more solidarity with the poorest, which is more spiritual and full of reverence for the splendor of the universe and which is much happier.”

D’Escoto, who was suspended from his priestly functions by the anti-communist Pope John Paul II, is an advocate of Marxist-oriented Liberation Theology and received the Lenin Peace Prize.

He said the UN must become a Noah’s Ark to save humanity.

D’Escoto is the same UN figure who recently dismissed the Iranian president’s threat to wipe Israel off the map by saying, “Words don’t kill.”

Humanists celebrate worldwide on June 21st
Wooo HOOooooo! Celebrating NOTHING!
Believe in nothing, and you shall have it. In abundance.
Sunday, June 21st, is World Humanist Day, an occasion for social gatherings and celebration of Humanism as an ethical philosophy of life. Established to coincide roughly with the Summer Solstice, there is no set rule for its observance. Some groups will gather together in picnics or parties. Others will have music or present talks and films. Me, I'll be going to a picnic.
The holiday began in the late 1980s with several chapters of the American Humanist Association (AHA) being the first to celebrate it. Since then, other humanist organizations around the world have picked it up, the largest being the International Humanist and Ethical Union (IHEU), an umbrella group for over 100 humanist, rationalist, secular, ethical culture, atheist and freethought organizations in more than 40 countries. While not all humanists recognize the holiday yet, the numbers are still growing.
Pastor Welcomes Gun Owners to Bring Their Handguns to Church
A Louisville pastor is welcoming gun owners into his church's sanctuary Saturday for what he says is a show of support for the right to bear arms.

Ken Pagano is asking visitors to bring their unloaded handguns in a holster at a late afternoon event at New Bethel Church in southwest Louisville.

Pagano says he got the idea after some members at the Pentecostal church expressed concern over the Obama administration's views on gun control. He says the gathering is meant to promote safe gun ownership.

The "Open Carry Celebration" will include a handgun raffle. It has prompted a coalition of peace and church groups to stage a peaceful, gun-free event across town at the same time on Saturday.
