The Left Behind

Whether you turn
to the right or to the left,
your ears will hear
a voice behind you, saying,
“This is the way; walk in it.”

1 Chronicles Chapter 16
1 And they brought in the ark of God, and set it in the midst of the tent that David had pitched for it, and they offered burnt-offerings and peace-offerings before God.
2 And when David had made an end of offering the burnt-offering and the peace-offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the LORD.
3 And he dealt to every one of Israel, both man and woman, to every one a loaf of bread, and a cake made in a pan, and a sweet cake.
ד וַיִּתֵּן לִפְנֵי אֲרוֹן יְהוָה, מִן-הַלְוִיִּם--מְשָׁרְתִים; וּלְהַזְכִּיר וּלְהוֹדוֹת וּלְהַלֵּל, לַיהוָה אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל. {ס} 4 And he appointed certain of the Levites to minister before the ark of the LORD, and to celebrate and to thank and praise the LORD, the God of Israel: {S}
ה אָסָף הָרֹאשׁ, וּמִשְׁנֵהוּ זְכַרְיָה; יְעִיאֵל וּשְׁמִירָמוֹת וִיחִיאֵל וּמַתִּתְיָה וֶאֱלִיאָב וּבְנָיָהוּ וְעֹבֵד אֱדֹם וִיעִיאֵל, בִּכְלֵי נְבָלִים וּבְכִנֹּרוֹת, וְאָסָף, בַּמְצִלְתַּיִם מַשְׁמִיעַ. 5 Asaph the chief, and second to him Zechariah, Jeiel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Mattithiah, and Eliab, and Benaiah, and Obed-edom, and Jeiel, with psalteries and with harps; and Asaph with cymbals, sounding aloud;
6 and Benaiah and Jahaziel the priests with trumpets continually, before the ark of the covenant of God.
ז בַּיּוֹם הַהוּא, אָז נָתַן דָּוִיד בָּרֹאשׁ, לְהֹדוֹת, לַיהוָה--בְּיַד-אָסָף, וְאֶחָיו. {ש} 7 Then on that day did David first ordain to give thanks unto the LORD, by the hand of Asaph and his brethren. {P}
{ר} 8 O give thanks unto the LORD, call upon His name; make known His doings among the peoples.
{ר} 9 Sing unto Him, sing praises unto Him; speak ye of all His marvellous works.

{ר} 13 O ye seed of Israel His servant, ye children of Jacob, His chosen ones.
{ר} 14 He is the LORD our God; His judgments are in all the earth.
טו זִכְרוּ לְעוֹלָם, בְּרִיתוֹ-- {ס} דָּבָר צִוָּה, לְאֶלֶף דּוֹר. {ר} 15 Remember His covenant for ever, the word which He commanded to a thousand generations;
טז אֲשֶׁר כָּרַת, אֶת-אַבְרָהָם-- {ס} וּשְׁבוּעָתוֹ, לְיִצְחָק. {ר} 16 [The covenant] which He made with Abraham, and His oath unto Isaac;
יז וַיַּעֲמִידֶהָ לְיַעֲקֹב, לְחֹק-- {ס} לְיִשְׂרָאֵל, בְּרִית עוֹלָם. {ר} 17 And He established it unto Jacob for a statute, to Israel for an everlasting covenant;
{ר} 18 Saying: 'Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance.'
{ר} 19 When ye were but a few men in number, yea, very few, and sojourners in it,
{ר} 20 And when they went about from nation to nation, and from one kingdom to another people,
{ר} 21 He suffered no man to do them wrong, yea, for their sake He reproved kings:
כב אַל-תִּגְּעוּ, בִּמְשִׁיחָי-- {ס} וּבִנְבִיאַי, אַל-תָּרֵעוּ. {ר} {ש} 22 'Touch not Mine anointed ones, and do My prophets no harm.' {P}
{ר} 23 Sing unto the LORD, all the earth; proclaim His salvation from day to day.
{ר} 24 Declare His glory among the nations, His marvellous works among all the peoples.
{ר} 25 For great is the LORD, and highly to be praised; He also is to be feared above all gods.
{ר} 26 For all the gods of the peoples are things of nought; but the LORD made the heavens.
{ר} 27 Honour and majesty are before Him; strength and gladness are in His place.
{ר} 28 Ascribe unto the LORD, ye kindreds of the peoples, ascribe unto the LORD glory and strength.

לב יִרְעַם הַיָּם, וּמְלוֹאוֹ-- {ר} יַעֲלֹץ הַשָּׂדֶה, וְכָל-אֲשֶׁר-בּוֹ. {ס} 32 Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof; let the field exult, and all that is therein;
{ס} 33 Then shall the trees of the wood sing for joy, before the LORD, for He is come to judge the earth.

לו בָּרוּךְ יְהוָה, אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל-- {ר} מִן-הָעוֹלָם, וְעַד הָעֹלָם; וַיֹּאמְרוּ כָל-הָעָם, אָמֵן-- {ס} וְהַלֵּל, לַיהוָה. {ר} {ש} 36 Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting even to everlasting. And all the people said: 'Amen,' and praised the LORD. {P}

My Man Godfrey ~ 1936

Director:
Gregory La Cava

Stars: William Powell

14 “Again, it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his wealth to them. 15 To one he gave five bags of gold, to another two bags, and to another one bag, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey. 16 The man who had received five bags of gold went at once and put his money to work and gained five bags more. 17 So also, the one with two bags of gold gained two more. 18 But the man who had received one bag went off, dug a hole in the ground and hid his master’s money.

19 “After a long time the master of those servants returned and settled accounts with them. 20 The man who had received five bags of gold brought the other five. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with five bags of gold. See, I have gained five more.’

21 “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’

22 “The man with two bags of gold also came. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with two bags of gold; see, I have gained two more.’

23 “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’

24 “Then the man who had received one bag of gold came. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘I knew that you are a hard man, harvesting where you have not sown and gathering where you have not scattered seed. 25 So I was afraid and went out and hid your gold in the ground. See, here is what belongs to you.’

26 “His master replied, ‘You wicked, lazy servant! So you knew that I harvest where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered seed? 27 Well then, you should have put my money on deposit with the bankers, so that when I returned I would have received it back with interest.

28 “‘So take the bag of gold from him and give it to the one who has ten bags. 29 For whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them. 30 And throw that worthless servant outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’
~ Matthew 25
