THE HISTORY OF FLAG DAY
The Swedish negotiator insisted that strengthening economic sanctions, including support for Iran joining the World Trade Organization and improved economic relations, would likely be enough to force Tehran to rethink its nuclear program. “It’s their choice to make: They can either face isolation or they can have better relations with all of us if they verifiably suspend their enrichment program," said Blix.[SNIP]
All seven Bahá'ís who form a group that sees to the needs of the Bahá'í community of Iran have been arrested, six of them in early-morning raids on 14 May 2008 at their homes in Tehran. U.S.: Bush Says Diplomacy Is First Choice In Dealing With Iran
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has issued a defiant message to U.S. President George Bush, warning that the United States will not be able to attack Iran.
Mr. Ahmadinejad said Wednesday that Mr. Bush's era has "come to an end." The Iranian president also mocked what he called Mr. Bush's desire to attack Iran, saying the U.S. leader will not be able to harm "even one centimeter" of the country.
"My first choice, of course, is to solve this diplomatically. All options are on the table," Bush said. "The first choice is to solve this problem by working together by sending a dual message, which has been a consistent policy of this administration, that if you verifiably suspend your enrichment programs, you'll end your isolation."
That's right.... they are STILL meeting with them.
Now you know why there was no REAL Republican action against Pelosi going to Syria.
It's all a show, folks.
This is the Baker Plan in action. Submit to Iran through Syria.
That trip to Syria by the Caliphellator was OK'ed before she went. It had to be, there were NO REAL REPERCUSSIONS from the Bush Administration. NONE.
That telegraphs consent.

Former US Secretary of State James Baker, who co-chaired the recent US Iraq Study Group — the main recommendations of which were rejected by the George W. Bush Administration — is working indirectly and behind the scenes to bring about direct diplomatic ties between the US and Iran.
" A distinguished independent panel of Republicans and Democrats, led by Former Secretary of State Jim Baker and Former Congressman Lee Hamilton, is taking a fresh look at the situation in Iraq and will make recommendations to help achieve our goals.
I welcome all these efforts.
My administration will carefully consider any proposal that will help us achieve victory."

Harry Harrison (born Henry Maxwell Dempsey, March 12, 1925 ) is an American science fiction author best known for his character the Stainless Steel Rat and the novel Make Room! Make Room! (1966), which was the basis for the film Soylent Green (1973)
Harry Harrison, a science fiction classic writer, became a special guest at the international congress of science fiction writers Eurocon-2008 in Moscow. In an interview with RBC daily the author of The Stainless Steel Rat said that the USA is gradually becoming a totalitarian state. The author praised Russia for its unusual interest in literature and criticized Russian science fiction for its lack of dynamics and a low level of literary techniques.
“The culture undergoes serious changes – these changes are not always progressive. Within several years of Bush’s rule the American democratic power has turned into the state of a fascist or Stalinist type – the president violates the Constitution, such key principles as freedom of speech and freedom of conscience,” the 83-year-old science fiction writer said in the interview.
“Moreover, the USA behaves absolutely undemocratically towards the world: the USA ignores interests of other countries and it does not even try to understand them. As a result, the USA is simply unaware of the situation in the world and thus it’s unaware of the course it takes. It is a vivid illustration of reversible social and cultural progress.”
However, the writer remains optimistic and reminds that “any totalitarian regime is doomed to collapse sooner or later, and the most difficult problems will be successfully solved sooner or later.” “Mankind has the saving mechanism of self-regulation – bad times cannot last long.” He said.
Harry Harrison was surprised with Russians’ extensive reading: “Within the same period of time a book of mine hardly sells in the USA, two and a half in the UK and ten books in Russia. Americans almost gave up reading at all: in your food stores I met saleswomen who are well up in science fiction. That’s why Russia has become more attractive for a science fiction writer.”
“The secret of a bestseller is the optimal correlation of ideas and action. Traditionally Russian fans pay more attention to the idea of a novel, while action is hardly developing with a poor plot and excessive scientific details – here the general accent on studying the applied sciences in the USSR comes into play. Books by American writers (mine as well) are full of action, which makes a book reader-friendly.”
This page has been split into TWO PARTS. This, the first, looks at the Fibonacci numbers and why they appear in various "family trees" and patterns of spirals of leaves and seeds. The second page then examines why the golden section is used by nature in some detail, including animations of growing plants.

| JEDDAH, 11 June 2008 — Fifty-six Muslim countries are expected to invest nearly $1.2 trillion in infrastructure projects over the next 10 years, especially in telecom, transport, power, water and other vital sector, a report issued by the Jeddah-based Islamic Development Bank (IDB) Group announced yesterday.|
The report said some $675 billion would be invested to finance new telecom and power projects in IDB member countries, adding that half of that amount would be in the Gulf Cooperation Council states of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman. The IDB countries will also invest $290 billion in expanding and upgrading air, sea and land transport infrastructure, with half of that investment taking place in Asia, the report said.
"I won't forget these people," said Susie Tompkins Buell, a co-founder of the Esprit clothing company and a longtime friend of the Clintons who describes herself as "a soul sister" to Hillary Clinton.
When asked to name "these people," Buell specifies "all the women who sold out Hillary." She declined to volunteer names on her list but answered "all of the above" when read a roster of prominent women supporting Obama that includes Senator Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota, Governor Janet Napolitano of Arizona and Governor Kathleen Sebelius of Kansas"
"Dr. Biederman isn't merely on the take from drug companies, he's also actively engaged in using children as young as four years old for medical experiments. His current recruitment efforts attempt to round up four- to six-year olds and dose them with Astrazeneca's Seroquel drug to see what might happen to their brains."
Discussions on a number of radical websites have asked how children should be brought up to be "mujahideen" and whether they should be pulled out of mainstream schools.
Other participants boast of how their children threaten to kill "kuffar" [non-believers] and complain that the Shakespeare being taught in schools is "full of homosexuality, fornication and adultery."
The apparently strange alliance and accommodation between Islam and the Left is not strange at all when put in historical perspective. The aggressor and the appeaser are not strange bedfellows. The question is who is fooling who?
McCain is even leaning left online. Right now the campaign homepage features a prominent banner directing supporters to visit Daily Kos, the powerhouse liberal blog, to engage voters:

Activists who post comments across the cyber-aisle can even earn "points through the McCain Online Action Center." Just compare that to the last presidential election, when the Democratic its link to DailyKos, the largest Democratic hub online, after a single controversial post appeared on the site. It was "Reject and Denounce 1.0." Four years later, liberal blogs are so embedded in national politics that even the Republican nominee is trying to engage them.
