The Convenient Mind
~ Tzvi Freman

The mind will always find the answer most convenient for itself

Even when searching for spirituality, for enlightenment, the mind will only rest where there is enough room to remain a mind. Therefore, on its own, it can never come to know the Infinite

To reach the Infinite takes a sense that is beyond the need to exist, the essential knowledge of the inner soul. Only once the mind drinks from that fountain can it be trusted to see beyond itself

Revelation 7:17:
For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; he will lead them to springs of living water. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes

Yesterday, there was a minor earthquake 28km from Bucharest, which seismologists have connected to the recent eclipse. At 03.39 this morning there was a more powerful earthquake in Greece (5.3 on the Richter scale)

It is indicative of just how far modern, "secular", western man has fallen away not only from God, the sacral, the numinous, but also from any sense of even the most primitive dread at cosmic conjunctions, that eclipses are now greeted with idiot rejoicing, with whoops of asinine excitement at the celestial light show.

A mote it is to trouble the mind's eye. in the most high and palmy state of Rome, A little ere the mightiest Julius fell, The graves stood tenantless and the sheeted dead Did squeak and gibber in the Roman streets ;As stars with trains of fire and dews of blood,Disasters in the sun; and the moist star Upon whose influence Neptune's empire stands ;Was sick almost to doomsday with eclipse ~ Hamlet, Act 1, Scene 1

Quotations about eclipses

1,570 died in the Bucharest earthquake of 1977, which measured 7.4. However, another earthquake of that magnitude would result in a catastrophe in which tens of thousands would probably die. Hundreds of buildings weakened by the 1977 earthquake but not repaired in the meantime would collapse. All over the city you can see buildings with a "bulina rosie" (red spot) placard attached, warning that the building in question is a category 1 risk in case of earthquake (i.e. will fall down). Many sub-standard housing blocks built during communism after the earthquake might also collapse. The population of Bucharest is probably double that of 1977; it is the most densely populated city in Europe (i.e. with the least amount of space per capita), with tens of thousands living in eight/nine/ten-storey blocks. The authorities would be completely unprepared for r the catastrophe, not only because of institutionalised corruption and inefficiency, but also the sheer scale of the disaster.
