Guided by the noble Islamic values, the OIC has always placed special emphasis on the preservation and promotion of peace and actively contributes to conflict resolution and prevention in various parts of the world.

The Noble Islamic Values!

US Leaders Recommend Muslim Diplomacy
A diverse group of 34 US religious, business, military, foreign policy and academic leaders are recommending more diplomatic engagement and a more robust investment in economic development to help improve relations with the Muslim world.

"The urgency is quite great," former Republican Congressmen Vin Weber told The New York Times in an interview published on Wednesday, September 24.

The figures, drawn from religious, business, military, foreign policy, academic, foundation and nonprofit circles, spent 18 months reviewing the deteriorating relations between the US and the Muslim world under the Bush administration.

"The Bush administration is held in low regard in the Muslim world, and unfortunately that’s led to America being held in low regard," said Weber. In their report, "Changing Course: A New Direction for US Relations with the Muslim World," they propose a series of steps to improve the ties.

They insist that Washington must seek a more diplomatic engagement with the Muslim world."(The US) needs to make a significant shift in our relations with Muslim countries, relying more on diplomacy and helping to lay the foundation for democratic development," said former Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage.

The report recommends partnership with Muslims committed to non-violent political and economic development to tackle extremism and urges the US to champion a major investment in economic development to create jobs for alienated youth.

It asks Washington to promote better governance in authoritarian countries such as Saudi Arabia and Egypt and foster exchange programs between the US and Muslim countries.

Among authors of the report are former secretary of state Madeleine K. Albright, former US Middle East peace envoy Dennis Ross, former Republican congressmen Steve Bartlett and Thomas Dine and Thomas Dine, former executive director of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee.

One-third of the group were Muslim Americans, including the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) Chairwoman Ingrid Mattson.

US told it MUST meet with Mullah Omar
The US must broker a power-sharing agreement with the head of the Taliban, Mullah Omar, in order to establish peace in the region, the Governor of Pakistan's lawless border areas has said.

The Clinton Global Initiative annual meeting!
Speaking at the start of the summit Wednesday, surrounded by notables such as former Vice President Al Gore, former President George H.W. Bush, and Bono from the rock band U2, Mr. Clinton said the financial crisis should not be an excuse to walk away from the world's challenges
Rowan Williams Digs Marxism!
Dr Williams also suggested that Karl Marx was partly right in his critique of capitalism.
He wrote: 'Marx long ago observed the way in which unbridled capitalism became a kind of mythology, ascribing reality, power and agency to things that had to no life in themselves.' And he welcomed the banning of short-selling as an example of an area where Government could intervene to reduce the risk to society of certain financial practices. He accepted that making a profit was a legitimate goal, however, 'if not a morally supreme' one, and that entrepreneurship can draw people out of poverty
From the Secretary General of the OIC, speech at Columbia University
Distinguished Ladies and Gentlemen,

The OIC is the first Intergovernmental Organization in the history of Islam, and it is nowadays one of the largest intergovernmental organization in the world, second only to the United Nations, with a constituency of 57 Member States and 5 Observer States. The Muslim world has a formidable geographical stretch of land extending from the Atlantic shores to the confines of China and the shores of the islands of the Philippines and Indonesia, in addition to countries in South America.
Gazprom Executes Agreement with Venezuela for Oil and Gas Exploration in Carribean
Gazprom's chief executive was recently stated, "We see North America as a region of our strategic interests....We have noticed a growing interest of Canadian companies in co-operation with Gazprom of late. We have received many interesting proposals based on objective competing advantages of Canadian companies in gas supplies to the US market....In general, one can say that we are creating a new configuration of gas supplies to North America."
Gazprom, navy in American knight's move
On Monday, Gazprom, Russia's leading company and the world's largest exporter of energy, signed an undertaking with the Venezuelan government to take a 15% stake in the development of two offshore oil and gas zones in the Caribbean.

The memorandum was signed in Caracas, as a Russian navy squadron, including the heavy cruiser Peter the Great and three escorts, set sail from Severomorsk, on the Arctic Circle, to join Venezuelan vessels in the first show of Russian naval power in American waters for many years. They have been preceded by the Russian air force, which dispatched a pair of long-range bombers to Venezuela for the past week. A Russian naval spokesman told Asia Times Online the squadron would operate in the Caribbean, and would enter the sea from the Atlantic Ocean.

The Gazprom MoU with Venezuela caps a week of Russian resource politicking in Latin America, as Igor Sechin, the deputy prime minister in charge of resources, visited Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua. In Cuba, large Russian plans are underway to mine nickel.
Gazprom Neft to raise USD 1 billion loans
Interfax cited Mr Alexander Dyukov president of Gazprom Neft as saying that Gazprom Neft might still raise a loan for USD 1 billion before the end of the year. He said that "Despite the financial crisis, we remain interested in raising a loan. Our profits and financial condition are sound. I think we will be able to reach agreement with the banks for a loan at advantageous terms for us."

It was reported earlier that Gazprom Neft completed syndication of a loan totaling USD 1 billion in July. The loan proceeds were used for general corporate needs and to refinance existing debt. The loan was organized by Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria SA, The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, Ltd, Barclays Capital, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation and WestLB AG.
