when I got off of the plane yesterday and finally got home, the daughter hit me with something I did not see coming. It seems that Ohio State has an outstanding dance program and there's an audition next week. She and the wife are going to drive up Thursday for auditions Friday and Saturday. I had to review her essay she'd written for entrance, she woke me up right after I fell asleep. Under the circumstances, of course I woke up.

It just dawned on me all of her ballet would be at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center which is frankly the finest athletic center in the world.

I can use my friend's address and dodge the out of state fees. She was after all, born in the Buckeye state. While not in school, she'd have to find herself a place to live and get a job during the summer.

The reality of her leaving the nest is really starting to hit me now. I don't agree with her decision, but she's the one that has to live her life, not me.

We'll see how she does with her auditions...

Law claims he’s acting under the rubric of William F. Buckley,
supporting the most conservative candidate who can win. But Law is no
judge of that. Neither is Rove. Their advice led to the epic Romney
defeat, in which conservatives were told to vote for Romney in the
primary since he was the only candidate who could win.

the wife is going to teach the boy how to make cheese cake. He likes him some of dat cheese cake. I has a sour cream topping and the crust is baked with the cream cheese and bisquick mixture. Non of that gram-cracker crap for us!

I told him once he learns how to do this, he can have cheese cake anytime he wants. He likes the sound of that.

I also bought two new pyrex glass pie dishes since they need to make two of them tonight, one for us, and to take along another down to a super bowl party. That means supper is covered tonight. It's my favorite desert.

    ReplyDelete
  67. pbird4:30 PM

hm, i like them made about three inches deep in a springform pan with a discreet layer of that graham cracker crap on the bottom just so you can get it off the pan

    ReplyDelete
  68. BulgarWheat4:32 PM

spray the glass pyrex dishes with Pam cooking spray.Since the bisquick is mixed in with the phili cream cheese, it naturally creates it's own crust. I love that! The sour cream topping just brings it all together.

No, it was no accident. Right on cue, many Twitter users parlayed the pre-Super Bowl performance by Jennifer Hudson and the Sandy Hook kids into an opportunity to call for stricter gun control laws:

    Out of the window

And all the dogs are barkin'

Way on down the diamond-studded highway where you wander

And you roam from your retreat and view

    Way over on the railroad

Tomorrow all the tippin' trucks will unload

    Every scrapbook stuck will glue

    And I'll stand beside you

    Beside you child

To never never never wonder why at all

No no no no no no no no

To never never wonder why at all

To never never never wonder why it's gotta be

    It has to be

Way across the country where the hillside mountain glide

The dynamo of your smile caressed the barefoot virgin child to wander

Past your window with a lantern lit

You held it in the doorway and you cast against the pointed island breeze

Said your time was open, go well on your merry way

Past the brazen footsteps of the silence easy

You breathe in you breathe out you breathe in you breathe out you breath in

You breathe out you breathe in you breathe out

And you're high on your high-flyin' cloud

Wrapped up in your magic shroud as ecstasy surrounds you

    This time it's found you

You turn around you turn around you turn around you turn around

    And I'm beside you

    Beside you

    Oh darlin'

To never never wonder why at all

after becoming violently delusional and spending a week in a psychiatric
hospital in 2011, Richard met with his doctor and received
prescriptions for 90 more days of Adderall. He hanged himself in his
bedroom closet two weeks after they expired.

    ReplyDelete
  129. BabbaZee8:20 AM

Dr. Ellison stopped Richard Fee’s prescription — he wrote “no Adderall
for now” on his chart and the next day refused Richard’s phone request
for more. Instead he prescribed Abilify and Seroquel, antipsychotics for
    schizophrenia...

    ReplyDelete
  130. BabbaZee8:21 AM

Dr. Parker wrote three 30-day prescriptions: Clonidine (a sleep aid),
Venlafaxine (an antidepressant) and Adderall, 60 milligrams a day.

    ReplyDelete
  131. BabbaZee8:23 AM

Described as “paranoid and psychotic” by the admitting physician, Dr. John Riedler, Richard spent one week in the hospital denying that he had any psychiatric or addiction issues. He was placed on two medications: Seroquel and the antidepressant Wellbutrin, no stimulants. In his discharge report, Dr. Riedler noted that Richard had stabilized but remained severely depressed and dependent on both amphetamines and marijuana, which he would smoke in part to counter the buzz of Adderall and the depression from withdrawal.

(Marijuana is known to increase the risk for schizophrenia, psychosis and memory problems, but Richard had smoked pot in high school and college with no such effects, several friends recalled. If that was the case, “in all likelihood the stimulants were the primary issue here,” said Dr. Wesley Boyd, a psychiatrist at Children’s Hospital Boston and Cambridge Health Alliance who specializes in adolescent substance abuse.)

So why does Homeland Security need so many weapons and enough hollow-point rounds to plug every American six times?

Maybe this is the “civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded” as the Defense Department.

These words – “civilian national security force” – have haunted me ever since I first read them.

Obama has never explained what he meant.

He’s never been called to account for that remark.

Doesn’t this sound like police-state talk to you?

At the time, I had never heard anyone use the phrase “civilian national security force” before. But I did a little homework and found out where it originated. It was first proposed by then Bush administration Defense Secretary Robert Gates.

For two generations we've been lectured about the dangers of overpopulation. But the conventional wisdom on this issue is wrong, twice. First, global population growth is slowing to a halt and will begin to shrink within 60 years. Second, as the work of economists Esther Boserups and Julian Simon demonstrated, growing populations lead to increased innovation and conservation. Think about it: Since 1970, commodity prices have continued to fall and America's environment has become much cleaner and more sustainable—even though our population has increased by more than 50%. Human ingenuity, it turns out, is the most precious resource.

College. Higher education dampens fertility in all sorts of ways. It delays marriage, incurs debt, increases the opportunity costs of childbearing and significantly increases the expense of raising a child. If you doubt that the economics of the university system are broken, consider this: Since 1960, the real cost of goods in nearly every other sector of American life has dropped. Meanwhile, the real cost of college has increased by more than 1,000%.

  153. The two-day old tenure of Secretary of State John Kerry got off to a flying start today with an astonishing statement from his ambassador to Egypt, Anne W. Patterson, at a joint ceremony in Cairo to mark the delivery of four American-made F-16 aircraft:

U.S. Ambassador to Egypt Anne W. Patterson.

Today's ceremony demonstrates the firm belief of the United States that a strong Egypt is in the interest of the U.S., the region, and the world. We look to Egypt to continue to serve as a force for peace, security, and leadership as the Middle East proceeds with its challenging yet essential journey toward democracy. … Our thirty-four year security partnership is based upon shared interests and mutual respect. The United States has long recognized Egypt as an indispensible [sic] partner.

“Yes I issued the fatwa where I said to the girls that music is not good for society,” he said. Mufti also said that all the “bad things happening in the Indian society are because of music.”

  156. Bloomberg administration’s stealth war on teen pregnancy.

Handouts of the “morning-after pill” to sexually active students have skyrocketed under an unpublicized project in which health centers in public schools offer girls a full menu of free birth-control drugs and devices, records obtained by The Post show.

Last September, the city revealed it had started giving out Plan B and other birth control in the nurses’ offices of 13 high schools. At the time, officials said 567 girls had gotten Plan B.

But the birth-control blitz was much bigger than the city had acknowledged. About 40 separate “school-based health centers” doled out 12,721 doses of Plan B in 2011-12, up from 10,720 in 2010-11 and 5,039 in 2009-10, according to the newly released data.

About 22,400 students sought reproductive care from January 2009 through last school year, records show. Under state law, minors don’t need parental OKs to get contraceptives.

The revelations stunned Mona Davids, president of the NYC Parents Union, whose 14-year-old attends a Manhattan high school.

“I’m in shock,” she said. “What gives the mayor the right to decide, without adequate notice, to give our children drugs that will impact their bodies and their psyches? He has purposely kept the public and parents in the dark with his agenda.”

Davids, who is black, noted that most school-based health centers are in poor neighborhoods.

“This was population control on blacks and Latinos without our knowledge,” she said.

  182. HSUS, CEO Wayne Pacelle, and ex-employee Scotlund Haisley are defendants in a $5 million federal lawsuit stemming from a September 2009 “raid” on a South Dakota hunting dog breeder named Daniel Christensen. A judge later ruled the raid illegal because the search warrant was wrongfully obtained by an animal control officer who had “intentionally misled the issuing court.”

All of the animal cruelty charges against Christensen were dropped. But he didn’t get all of his dogs back. Some died after they were seized; others apparently were adopted out.
