  1. Gun killings in 2010 were at their lowest rate since 1981, but the gun suicide rate was its highest since 1998 and the nonfatal injury rate from guns hit a three-year high in 2011, according to FactCheck.org. Those numbers were released after U.S. gun manufacturing increased 64 percent between 2007 and 2011.

  3. The Al-Madany Islamic Center of Norwalk, CT screamed ‘Islamophobia’ even though its proposal for a 27,000 sq. ft. mega mosque with an 80 ft. high minaret was turned down by the zoning commission over issues unrelated to religion. The cry of ‘Islamophobia’ got the Muslim-in-Chief on its side, and forced the zoning commission to change its mind. No doubt, terror-linked CAIR thugs were behind this.

DOJ Forces Mega-Mosque on Norwalk, CT Community

The Al-Madany Islamic Center of Norwalk in Connecticut wasn’t ready to give up when its proposal for a 27,000 square foot facility was turned down by the zoning commission over matters completely unrelated to religion. The Islamic Center sued, asserting—as you might have guessed—it was religious discrimination. The cry of “Islamophobia” got the Justice Department on its side, and the zoning commission suddenly changed its mind after a closed session.

The current Islamic Center was established in 1999 and serves 100 families. Feeling that more space was needed, the Center purchased the property in 2008 and made the $3.5 million proposal in the spring of 2010. It calls for a facility with an 80 foot minaret to serve as a community center and mosque, including eight classrooms, two libraries, three offices, a kitchen, a gymnasium and other rooms. It has a capacity for 1,000 people.

The proposal was rejected in June. The officials and residents that opposed it never referenced Islam and repeatedly emphasized that religion had nothing to do with it.

Mayor Richard Moccia said, “It was not based on any religious bias.” Commissioner Adam Blank said community centers are not allowed in triple AAA residential zones. Additionally, he said, parking was only allocated for the prayer hall that is 3,000 square feet, leaving the rest without parking.

“We all have problems with parking and space. It’s clear that the people who are concerned for their neighborhood are also good Americans, who also care a great deal about the diversity of our community. No one should be cast as a bigot,” he said.

Nonetheless, the “Islamophobia” accusation got the Justice Department to start an investigation. On November 29, the zoning commission had a private meeting and approved the proposal “subject to an agreement depending on the terms of a final settlement.”

  6. Syrian Jihadist Group Threatens United States

    (McCain's "Heroes")

A Syrian opposition group tied to al-Qaida has issued a threatening statement against the United States two weeks after the U.S. Treasury Department designated its leaders as terrorists.

A statement published on a jihadist website from Abu Mohammad Tahawi, a leading Jordanian Salafi jihadist who often trumpets the Nusrah Front in Syria, taunts the United States and President Obama and promises bloodshed.

The Nusrah Front "placed you long ago on the terrorism blacklist based on injustice, tyranny and vanquishing people," Tahawi wrote. "They have made a pledge for themselves to obey the oath of Sheikh Osama [bin Laden] … and you will not know a pleasant life, nor quiet and happy sleep until you return to your homes, with bowed heads, weary, miserable; and you pay them the Jizya (tax on non-Muslims), and are humbled ."

Tahawi's statement treats the U.S. action as a declaration of war:

The land of Greater Syrian awaits you with great suspense for your hearts to be roasted in a sea of hot coals, for your fat to melt, and your meat to be grilled; today you will no longer be able to manage a single battle much less several battles. This is by the Grace of God, then by the grace of the soldiers of Osama who will frighten you and paralyze your thinking; come to the land of Greater Syria, if you be you men or if there is in you the remains of rest manhood. Ah, why are you reluctant to come Oh, Obama? Perhaps you remember the tragedies of your friend Bush in Iraq and Afghanistan, and the bad luck you inherited still bears the burden of its consequences.

Sgt. Yaakov Mizrahi moved to Israel and enlisted in the IDF after completing his service as an officer in the Mexican Navy

Today, Sgt. Yaakov Mizrahi, 27, is a combat soldier in the Shimshon Battalion of the Kfir Brigade. Unlike the soldiers who serve with him, however, he is in the midst of his second round of military service, having served for six years in the Mexican Navy.

What made Sgt. Mizrahi decide to become the first in his family to leave everything and come to Israel to enlist? “In my family there was always the feeling that we should contribute to the country, even from far away,” he explained. "I decided the best path for me would be to enlist in the IDF."

Yet Beijing officials have announced plans to spend more than 10 years and £1.4bn turning the area into the "China Music Valley", a sprawling compound that will be home to recording studios, instrument makers, music schools, five-star hotels and an arena in the shape of a peach.

"Music is such an intangible kind of art," said Zhao Wei, a 30-year-old official who directed the initiative until last month. "Now with this project, we want to turn music into something that you can see, something that you can touch."

China's central government, concerned that progress in the country's film, music and drama sectors lag behind its economic development, has designated culture a top national priority and promised billions of pounds in subsidies for the arts. "Culture is the lifeblood of a nation," President Hu Jintao said at the start of the country's once-in-a-decade leadership transition in November.

Higgs has chosen to cap his remarkable 2012 with another bang by criticising the "fundamentalist" approach taken by Dawkins in dealing with religious believers.

"What Dawkins does too often is to concentrate his attack on fundamentalists. But there are many believers who are just not fundamentalists," Higgs said in an interview with the Spanish newspaper El Mundo. "Fundamentalism is another problem. Many commentators are upset that huge money-making companies now seem to be publicly rooting for particular policy positions. I say get used to it. The combination of a) web-driven polarization, in which partisanship = profits, a la MSNBC and HuffPo, and b) Citizens United, after which corporations can’t claim they’re unable to take sides, is operating to obliterate what Marxists would call the alienated bourgeois division between working and politicking. It’s all praxis now, comrades! Admittedly, it’s only the blandest, most inoffensive Neutral Story Line type praxis at the moment–let’s all “come together” (and coincidentally protect our business’ interest) without losing too many customers. But if corporations get away with that, who knows what’s next–maybe they’ll be writing “path to citizenship” on your Starbucks cups in a few months.

Sadly, Another Gun-Free Zone “Success” Story

Once again, the nation has witnessed another high-profile shooting, where a cowardly thug made the conscious decision to inflict terror in a gun free zone.

On Tuesday night, a masked gunman killed two people at the Clackamas mall in Oregon, before killing himself. According to local residents, the Clackamas Town Center has a “no guns” policy, even for those who are authorized to carry guns legally.

Earlier this year in Colorado, James Holmes specifically bypassed closer theaters -- where guns were allowed -- to target the particular theater in Aurora where guns are prohibited

Like Holmes, several shooters in recent years have targeted gun free zones where their potential victims were disarmed by law: Columbine High School (1999), Virginia Tech (2007), and even Fort Hood (2009).

However, several potential massacres have been cut short -- some by average citizens, others by off-duty officers:

    * Armed citizens prevented several potential tragedies from occurring in 2012. Samuel Williams came to the rescue of several patrons utilizing an internet café in Ocala, Florida. And in Garden Grove, California, a 65-year old woman sent five burglars fleeing from a jewelry store. In both cases, security cameras captured the heroic efforts of armed citizens who sent the bad guys fleeing -- even tripping over themselves, as they stormed out the doors.

    * Five years ago this month, Matthew Murray entered a large Colorado Springs church, armed with several weapons and a thousand rounds of ammunition. But a woman with a concealed carry permit critically wounded him, thus saving the lives of hundreds of people.

    * And at a Salt Lake City mall in 2007, an off-duty police officer brought a shooting rampage to an abrupt halt. “I was in a situation that I was carrying my gun,” the hero, Ken Hammond, told reporters.

In all the above cases, where citizens were able to stop evil, the good guys were carrying guns. There was no time to run to their cars. There was no time to run home.

The lesson is clear: good guys with guns save lives. And while bad guys may be evil, they are not stupid. They don’t typically target gun stores or police stations to perpetrate their crimes. No, they consciously select areas where their victims are disarmed by law.

Erich Pratt is the Director of Communications for Gun Owners of America, a grassroots lobbying organization with 300,000 members.

A statue of Adolf Hitler praying on his knees is on display in the former Warsaw Ghetto, the place where so many Jews were killed or sent to their deaths by Hitler's regime, and it is provoking mixed reactions.

The work, "HIM" by Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan, has drawn many visitors since it was installed last month. It is visible only from a distance, and the artist doesn't make explicit what Hitler is praying for, but the broader point, organizers say, is to make people reflect on the nature of evil.

Muslim Brotherhood tops Wiesenthal Center anti-Semitism list

    http://www.jta.org/news/article/2012/12/28/3115561/muslim-brotherhood-tops-swc-anti-semite-list

    - Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood produced the worst anti-Semitic and anti-Israel slurs this year, according to the Simon Wiesenthal Center.

The center topped its annual “Top Ten Anti-Semitic/Anti-Israel Slurs” list with a quote from Mohammed Badie, the Muslim Brotherhood's supreme guide, who lamented “Jewish control” and ”spreading of corruption on earth,” and recommended “holy Jihad” as a remedy.

Also quoted in the entry was Futouh Abd al-Nabi Mansour, a cleric affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood who called on Allah to “destroy the Jews and their supporters” in a sermon delivered in the presence of Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi in October.

Second on the list was the Iranian regime.

Brazilian cartoonist Carlos Latuf was third for a cartoon showing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu squeezing votes into a ballot box out of the cadaver of a Palestinian child.

Soccer-related anti-Semitism occupied the fourth slot, followed by Ukraine’s Svoboda party, whose leader Oleg Tyagnibok assailed what he termed a “Muscovite Jewish Mafia.”

The sixth and seventh slots went to Greece’s Golden Dawn party and Hungary’s Jobbik, respectively. Norway and its royal house were in the eighth spot for awarding a medal to the Trond Ali Linstad, a Muslim educator and physician who has in his writings denounced the spread of "Jewish influence". The medal was later withdrawn.

Ranked ninth was Jakob Augstein, a German publicist who in Der Spiegel accused Netanyahu of exploiting the “Jewish lobby” in the United States and Germany’s Nazi past to “keep the world on a leash.”

Louis Farrakhan occupied the last slot, and was quoted as saying in October: “Jews control the media. They said it themselves… In Washington right next to the Holocaust museum is the Federal Reserve where they print the money. Is that an accident?”

The UN has categorically failed to delineate between legitimate opposition inside of Syria, and bands of roving armed terrorists committing wide scale atrocities against the Syrian people – many of whom are not even from Syria, all of whom are heavily armed by the US, NATO, and its regional allies including Israel, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar as part of a long standing plan to effect regime change in both Syria and Iran. The Western press is not only supporting the UN’s disingenuous efforts, it has gone through great lengths to delegitimize any opposition in Syria that refuses to pick up arms, or that speaks out against foreign intervention.

While the LA Times attempts to make the UN plan seem reasonable, with only Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and Russia standing in the way of peace, in reality, the plan is yet another effort to frame the conflict as a political struggle instead of the foreign invasion it actually is.

The Irelands defended those claims by presenting evidence – in so doing, revealing that they had installed tracking software on Aubrey’s phone and computer, allowing for full access to her communications.

As an aside, that kind of tracking software is becoming exceedingly easy to procure, with countless outlets selling them with limp warnings about how the products cannot be used surreptitiously – warnings doubtless written with the knowledge that they will be ignored. It’s worth mentioning that those warnings are there for a reason. It’s illegal for adults to spy on other adults without consent. Perhaps the Irelands hadn’t yet come to grips with their daughter becoming an adult herself.

The surveillance and the Irelands’ desire to take Aubrey out of school for mental evaluations convinced Aubrey, who had experienced much success as a singer in her program at the University of Cincinnati, to file a civil stalking order against her parents in September of this year, which was granted – the Irelands are not allowed to come into contact with their daughter for a full year.

Attempts made by the Irelands to recoup the $66,000 they spent on their daughter’s education have thus far been rebuffed. For their part, the university seems to see the daughter’s side, hiring security to watch out for the Irelands during Aubrey’s performances and offering to pay for the student’s final year at school.

I missed out on that "cluster fuck", but Schwarzkopf was not a friend of the special operations community. Putting a tanker in charge of any kind of special operations team defies all military logic. Once again, the term military intelligence has been demonstrated to be an incredible oxymoron.

Schumer, who has helped Remington secure Army contracts including an $8.9 million award in 2011 to produce 1,212 M24 sniper rifles, joined the company at last year’s event announcing the move of Bushmaster to Ilion.

Iranian cargo ship sinks off UAE, crew rescued

    Last updated: December 29, 2012

An Iranian cargo ship sank in UAE waters due to rough weather, while its crew of six was airlifted to safety by a rescue helicopter, a newspaper reported on Saturday.

The Al-Jasourah went down on Friday some 10 nautical miles off the coast of the northern emirate of Umm Al-Quwain soon after it had left the neighbouring emirate of Sharjah, said Gulf News.

Responding to a distress call, the emirati coastguard deployed a helicopter to airlift the all-Iranian crew to safety, it said. The size of the ship and the nature of its cargo were unknown.

The meteorological service in the United Arab Emirates had previously warned of high winds affecting coastal areas of the Gulf state for several days

  179. Sen. Dianne Feinstein cashes in on crisis!

Obama, are you listening? You should have hired Feinstein for your cabinet! According to The Washington Times:

On the day the new Congress convened this year, Sen. Dianne Feinstein introduced legislation to route $25 billion in taxpayer money to a government agency that had just awarded her husband’s real estate firm a lucrative contract to sell foreclosed properties at compensation rates higher than the industry norms.

Mrs. Feinstein’s intervention on behalf of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. was unusual: the California Democrat isn’t a member of the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs with jurisdiction over FDIC; and the agency is supposed to operate from money it raises from bank-paid insurance payments – not direct federal dollars.

Documents reviewed by The Washington Times show Mrs. Feinstein first offered Oct. 30 to help the FDIC secure money for its effort to stem the rise of home foreclosures. Her letter was sent just days before the agency determined that CB Richard Ellis Group (CBRE) – the commercial real estate firm that her husband Richard Blum heads as board chairman – had won the competitive bidding for a contract to sell foreclosed properties that FDIC had inherited from failed banks.

the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban go through (the last one with the help of
Bill Ruger) . . . I just HOPE that the NRA has the cojones to stop this
    unconstitutional "taking" . . .

  192. Obama will need to divert more and more of his capital to round up and take guns. He will in doing so transform most White guys, who look favorably on the US government as composed of kick-ass Marines and Army guys such as their grandfathers (ala the late Ed Winters, of “Band of Brothers”) into guys who figure the government is their mortal enemy, comprised of angry non-Whites and go-along White guys aiming to punish them for the sin of being a non-connected Straight White guy. [Which incidentally, happens to be true. That IS what government is all about and has been about since about 1964.]

But practically speaking, Obama does not have enough people to guard the borders (and is committed to Open Borders to get lots of illegals into the US to create votes, and of course allow all sorts of narcotics in as well). Thus the US will be flooded with guns, and hard core guns too, the hardest of the hard, including disposable and silenced weapons, and AK-47s which are globally cheap. Initially most White middle and working class people will hunker down, but very quickly they’ll react as they did in Prohibition, and violate the law flagrantly and repeatedly. As they do now with laws regarding Marijuana.

The whole purpose of gun control and gun bans is to create a feudal class. Which is why women like it so much.
