Though You Are Far Away

Hope deferred makes the heart sick,

...in 2005 he received by email a document entitled "Al-Qa'ida's strategy to 2020", which contained seven "stages" towards a world Islamic caliphate.Stage one was to "provoke the ponderous American elephant into invading Muslim lands where it would be easier for the mujahideen to fight it".

And so the war goes on. What was it the splendid Leon Panetta – my
favourite US Defence Secretary – said in Kabul 18 months ago? "We're
within reach of strategically defeating al-Qa'ida." And in London a few
days ago? He called for "relentless pressure" on the group. Did
al-Qa'ida's press office write this stuff for him? Or is there some
dark, unspoken knowledge shared by both us and al-Qa'ida? That we both,
in our souls, want the war to go on.

    wow!

Babba was especially bad yesterday! One of my wife's friends has her 50th birthday last night, and we threw a surprise party for her.

I ended up spending a lot of time with a former Black Watch troop in a kilt drinking a mildly incredible amount of beer. The food was pretty good too. I even danced with the wife. Clearly signs that I was over served.

Karzai demands US forces leave two provinces

Afghan government accuses US special forces in Logar and Wardak provinces of furthering "instability and insecurity".

At a press conference in the Afghan capital on Sunday, Aimal Faizi, presidential spokesman, said US special forces were responsible for furthering "insecurity and instability" in the eastern provinces of Maidan Wardak and Logar.

"In today's national security council meeting, Afghan President Hamid Karzai ordered the ministry of defence to kick out the US special forces from Wardak and Logar provinces within two weeks," Faizi said.

Faizi said "misconduct" by US special forces in Wardak included the beheading of a student and the capture of nine missing locals.

  109. Among the most compelling findings is that 30% of pedophiles are left-handed or ambidextrous, triple the general rate. Because hand dominance is established through some combination of genetics and the environment of the womb, scientists see that association as a powerful indicator that something is different about pedophiles at birth.

Some of the new understanding of pedophilia comes from studies done on convicted sex criminals at the Center for Mental Health
and Addiction in Toronto, where researchers use a procedure known as
phallometry to identify men whose peak attraction is to children.

A man sits alone in a room viewing a series of images and listening to
descriptions of various sexual acts with adults and children, male and
female, while wearing a device that monitors blood flow to his penis.

when Karen's brother's lesbian wife accused him of molesting his own daughter who was 5 at the time he had to take this test at his own expense to clear his name. It cost something like 5 grand.

    He took it TWICE.

She did it to destroy him and take everything he owned. GOD only knows if his daughter has been made to believe this really happened by her and her family and the shrinks. How people can do this just to get what they want is beyond me.

Happy conclusion to it is that she is dead now.

It was at this time, one autumn night — just as the bloodshot moon was sitting like a tipsy old man in the branches of the poplar tree, when all manner of intangible shadows flitted from garden to garden so that it seemed as if night was spontaneously producing animal and vegetable forms of its own, when faithful likenesses rendered in oils grew bored of leaning all day on their frames and stepped out into deserted rooms, when the stories of Kisfaludy trembled on the tables of old houses and the pages turned over by themselves, when the clocks that no one could remember working began to move their hands, and when doors on unoccupied houses started creaking as if in pain because someone behind them dared not cross the threshold—it was then Sindbad rose from the dead.”

"The general concern is about the Ikhwanisation of the state," said Khaled Fahmy, a prominent opposition commentator, and head of history at the American University in Cairo. "What is alarming is [the way] they are putting in place so many of their followers into all kinds of positions of state authority, so much so that if they lose the next elections, they will still control much of the Egyptian infrastructure," Fahmy told the Guardian last week.

Brother Stephen Baker, 62, stabbed himself in the heart at a western Pennsylvania monastery on Jan. 26, a little over a week after the disclosure of financial settlements in alleged abuse cases in Warren, Ohio. A coroner told the Altoona Mirror that Baker left a short note apologizing for his actions.

Rolling Stones To Israel haters:'Up Yours'

    http://joshuapundit.blogspot.com/2013/02/rolling-stones-to-israel-hatersup-yours.html

In spite of a concerted campaign by 'anti-Zionists', the Rolling Stones have announced they have no intention of cancelling their planned concert in Jerusalem on Israel’s Independence Day, Monday,April 15.

“We’ve been slammed and smacked and twittered a lot by the anti-Israeli side,” said Mick Jagger, the band’s leader and most
recognizable member since 1963. “All I can say is: anything worth doing is worth overdoing. So we decided to add a concert on Tuesday.”

I have been going through all my old back-up drives of late and looking at old work.. I really miss shooting film, I love the whole process, including the edit.. I’ve always found a digital edit, just isn’t the same as contact sheets being picked up, from the lab. mr elbank

  193. In a sweeping ruling, the Tenth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that there is no Second Amendment right to carry a concealed firearm in public. The broad wording of the decision in Peterson v. Martinez creates a far-reaching national precedent against carrying a loaded handgun outside the home.
