Third Man Records is proud to announce the most virile entry in the history of its Blue Series singles: The man, the legend himself Mr. Tom Jones laying his unmistakable voice over Howlin' Wolf's "Evil" and the Frankie Lane classic "Jezebel" (as covered over the years by the likes of Edith Piaf and Anna Calvi). Both tracks were produced by Jack White at Third Man studios.

    http://okiediscrimination.weebly.com/

With an 8th grade education, he was fortunate enough to get an aircraft assembly line job in LA in the early 50s. That's where he met my mom, who was then a divorced mother of two little girls. There weren't many women on the assembly line in those days, but it just so happened that the foreman Les Lopez's wife was the only woman working on that line. He thought it would be nice if his wife had another woman to hang out with so he hired my mom and the rest is history. About 14 years later I attended my dad's high school graduation. White trash akbar!

The man is home. His therapists wanted him to stay another day or two but he insisted on getting out today. Of course I was not informed of this decision until 10 AM, so I was absolutely NOT ready. At least the hospital ordered a walker for us so I didn't have to stop for one on the way home.

We ate bad bar burgers I bought at the recommendation of his nurses for supper. My stomach hurts. A lot. Ugh. I hope he doesn't get sick from them!

I managed to get him upstairs and in bed. I will not be far behind. I can't remember when I've been this tired.

Tomorrow I will need to be rested because there's no food in the house and he needs a raft of new meds so I'll have to fetch. It's hard to say if him being home will mean I have more time to spend here or even less. We shall see.

While killing time last night during testing, I moved about 300 songs over to my hoople phone. This was music that I had on my old iPod and I needed to recover. Alan Parsons, Poco, Pure Prairie League, Little Feat (I've bought Waiting for Columbus more times than I'll ever admit), Almon Brothers, Eric Clapton, The Subdudes, Billy Joel, James Taylor, Grateful Dead (Various Albums), SuperTramp, Traffic, a lot of good music.

The old iPod ended up in the washing machine sadly and it has reached end of life. I'm grateful I've been able to recover all of these songs.

Ebrahem -- a pseudonym he uses for security reasons -- is a 27-year-old revolutionary. A musician and a student, he was working and studying in Damascus when the rebellion against the government of President Bashar Assad began nearly two years ago. After months of demonstrating in Damascus, he returned to Hasaka to organize demonstrations. Now, as he travels across Hasaka province and in Deir al-Zour province to the south, documenting the situation there, he openly wonders whether he and his fellow revolutionaries have done the right thing.

The US Government Today Has More Data On The Average American Than The Stasi Did On East Germans

    http://www.techdirt.com/articles/20121003/10091120581/us-government-today-has-more-data-average-american-than-stasi-did-east-germans.shtml

    ReplyDelete
  65. Liebowitz8:48 AM

The American government has more information on the average American than Stalin had on Russians, Hitler had on German citizens, or any other government has ever had on its people.

The American government is collecting and storing virtually every phone call, purchases, email, text message, internet searches, social media communications, health information, employment history, travel and student records, and virtually all other information of every American.

Some also claim that the government is also using facial recognition software and surveillance cameras to track where everyone is going. Moreover, cell towers track where your phone is at any moment, and the major cell carriers, including Verizon and AT&T, responded to at least 1.3 million law enforcement requests for cell phone locations and other data in 2011. And – given that your smartphone routinely sends your location information back to Apple or Google – it would be child’s play for the government to track your location that way.

As the top spy chief at the U.S. National Security Agency explained this week, the American government is collecting some 100 billion 1,000-character emails per day, and 20 trillion communications of all types per year.

As we’ve previously documented, the spying isn’t being done to keep us safe … but to crush dissent and to smear people who uncover unflattering this about the government … and to help the too big to fail businesses compete against smaller businesses (and here).

And as we point out at every opportunity, this is not some “post-9/11 reality”. Spying on Americans – and most of the other attacks on liberty – started before 9/11.

Senator Frank Church – who chaired the famous “Church Committee” into the unlawful FBI Cointel program, and who chaired the Senate Foreign Relations Committee – said in 1975:

Th[e National Security Agency's] capability at any time could be turned around on the American people, and no American would have any privacy left, such is the capability to monitor everything: telephone conversations, telegrams, it doesn’t matter. There would be no place to hide. [If a dictator ever took over, the N.S.A.] could enable it to impose total tyranny ….

We can debate whether or not dictators are running Washington. But one thing is clear: the capacity is already here.

    TechDirt points out:

While the Stasi likely wanted more info and would have loved to have been able to tap into a digitally connected world like we have today, that just wasn’t possible.

That’s true. The tyrants in Nazi Germany, Stalinist Russia and Stasi Eastern Europe would have liked to easedrop on every communication and every transaction of every citizen. But in the world before the internet, smart phones, electronic medical records and digital credit card transactions, much of what happened behind closed doors remained private.

(And modern tin pot dictators don’t have the tens of billions of dollars necessary to set up a sophisticated electronic spying system).

In modern America, a much higher percentage of your communications and transactions are being recorded and stored by the government.

Al Qaeda 3.0: Terrorism’s Emergent New Power Bases

Top administration lawyers may hint at the end of the war on terror, but al Qaeda’s third generation is as deadly as ever. Bruce Riedel breaks down the group’s new power bases.

The fastest-growing new al Qaeda is in Syria. Using the cover name Jabhat al Nusra, al Qaeda has become perhaps the most lethal element of the opposition to Bashar al Assad’s brutal dictatorship. Al Qaeda’s amir, Ayman al-Zawahiri, called for jihadists across the world to flock to Syria this spring to join the uprising against the Assad regime and the Alawite minority that supports it. For al Qaeda, Assad and the Alawis are a perfect target; many Sunnis believe Alawis to be a deviationist sect of Islam that should be suppressed. While al Qaeda is a small part of the opposition in Syria, it nonetheless brings unique skills in bomb-making and suicide operations.

This edict has come down from on high as a result of Rove's squandering of close to $400 million in fat-cat and corporate "donations" meant to ensure a Republican victory in last month's presidential election.

In other developments at Fox, New York Magazine reports Dick Morris, another high-profile and go-to pundit at the channel, has also been relieved of duty at the "fair and balanced" operations center. Immigrants in America are being told they must deny their appreciation of the capitalist system that brought them here in the first place. They are told to hate the white people; those who do not are shamed as traitors to their race. It is crushing to see an American leader talk about "redistribution of wealth" under the guise of "fairness." This kind of political talk is more suited to Haiti or Egypt, but never America. The U.S. government is on its way to becoming the nightmare totalitarian system from which we immigrants tried to escape.

BenghaziGate: Obama Admin Knew Libyan Terrorists Had US-Provided Weapons

In a story that’s been largely buried
by the media for years upon years – and was doubly buried in the
aftermath of the Benghazi terrorist attack on September 11 resulting in
the death of four Americans – the New York Times is now reporting that
US-approved arms that were supposed to go to Libya rebels went to
Islamist terrorists. Even more importantly, the Obama administration
knew about it before, during, and after the Benghazi attacks.

A congressional subcommittee today plans to take up the topic of missing war records from Iraq and Afghanistan, the subject of a ProPublica-Seattle Times investigation last month.

The ProPublica and the Times reported over Veterans Day weekend that, despite orders, dozens of U.S. Army units in both theaters had lost or failed to keep field records during the wars. The records — such as after-action reports, casualty reports and duty logs — provide vital information for historians and can be critical evidence for veterans seeking disability benefits.

“The impact that accurate recordkeeping and access to records has on the backlog of VA disability claims and the negative impact to our veterans cannot be stressed enough,” subcommittee Chairman Jon Runyan, R-N.J., said in a statement to ProPublica.

“It is important that this issue receive the attention and oversight it merits, as it has a very real effect on the lives of those who have served our nation, and the barriers they run into to access the benefits they have earned through that service,” Runyon said.

  105. Sudan may have built a small mountain of African corpses, but it can't expect to command the full and undivided attention of the world until it does something truly outrageous like building a house and filling it with Jews. Since the Sudanese Jews are as gone as the Jews of Egypt, Iraq, Syria and good old Afghanistan, the chances of Bashir the Butcher pulling off that trick are rather slim.

They say that every time a bell rings, an angel gets his wings. CAIRO: Egyptian troops pushed protesters back from the presidential palace on Thursday to keep them at bay, after the deadliest violence between allies and foes of Mohamed Morsi since the president's election.

Soldiers, backed by tanks, set up a barbed wire perimeter roughly 150 metres (yards) from the palace, after ordering the rival protesters to pull back.

And in Morsi's hometown, the Nile Delta city of Zagazig, police used tear gas to disperse protesters who surrounded the home of one of the president's relatives, a police official said.

On Wednesday night, medical sources said, seven people were killed and 644 injured in clashes that pitted Islamists against an opposition that has escalated protests since Morsi issued a decree two weeks ago assuming sweeping powers.

Morsy, the target of intense anger from Egypt's fractious liberal opposition is expected to speak to the nation Thursday night after violent protests outside his presidential palace that left six people dead and at least 672 wounded.

He will make an important announcement, his chief of staff said without elaboration.

Opposition leaders say just one thing will mollify them: Morsy must roll back his recent edict granting himself expanded presidential powers and postpone the scheduled
December 15 referendum on a proposed constitution.

The Obamas Christmas Message: ‘It’s Great To Be Them’
    http://mychal-massie.com/premium/the-obamas-christmas-message-its-great-to-be-them/

The Obamas will celebrate a grand and lavish Christmas while many Americans who have suffered loss of income and home on his watch will go hungry. His family will bask on the riches of tax-payer dollars while and drink wine that costs thousands of dollars per bottle, while the families of Brian Terry, Jaime Zapata, Christopher Stevens, Sean Smith, Tyrone Woods, and Glen Doherty weep on Christmas morning as they face the emptiness of their lives without their loved ones. Not even knowing why they were allowed to be murdered.

The people of Staten Island will pray they have electricity Christmas morning; other families in New York and New Jersey will pray they have fresh water and operable bathroom facilities by Christmas. Fathers and mothers will suffer the pain of not being able to provide the kind of reasonable Christmas their families once enjoyed because they are now unemployed. Families in Joplin will wonder if anyone outside of what remains of their town remembers them. Some of the families in Colorado and California will weep as they remember the photo album, lost in the fires, that contained the picture of their grandparents.

Others in Tennessee, Mississippi, and Alabama will try to console their children who lost their pet in the devastating tornados.

But what the heck, our Erebusic leader and his family will bask in the limelight of his sycophants with wine dripping from his lips. Ahhh, it’s nice to be them, to heck with the rest of us.

Hundreds gathered at Seattle Center for a New Year's Eve-style countdown to 12 a.m., when the legalization measure passed by voters last month took effect. When the clock struck, they cheered and sparked up in unison.

    http://www.theblaze.com/stories/greek-schools-now-breeding-grounds-for-virulent-neo-nazism/

An Associated Foreign Press report reveals that currently, schools in the beleaguered country have fallen prey to the fascist political group as it seeks to recruit the next generation and expand its base. Golden Dawn garnered 400,000 votes in a June election and hosts 18 lawmakers in the 300-seat Greek parliament. Polls indicate that one in 10 Greeks favor Golden Dawn. AFP adds:

In November, a brawl broke out between Albanian and Greek high school pupils on the island of Crete over a Golden Dawn event advertised on Facebook, sending two
of them to hospital. [...] A fight had previously broken out at the same school over neo-Nazi slogans found on a blackboard.

What is perhaps most disturbing is that Golden Dawn has been a powerful influence in enforcing the teaching of “accurate” history in Greek schools:

The group denies that students were killed by security forces inside the Athens Polytechnic in 1973, a seminal event considered to have hastened the downfall of the army dictatorship then ruling the country.

And its leader Nikos Michaloliakos has publicly complained that Greek media are ruled by a “Red junta”. [...] During a recent school visit to parliament, one Golden Dawn deputy openly told pupils to resist the “terrorism” of the Left.
