here are my thoughts on veterans day....

I'm a veteran. I don't need the empty suit with large ears telling me how much he appreciates my service when he openly shows contempt for the people presently serving. Fookin' civilians. 26 years since I left the Army, will be 27 in March. I gave them 8 years of my life.

It's not at all like you see in the movies. It has almost nothing to do with God and country, sad to say. At 18 or 19 we're a little more pragmatic. Ultimately, everything we do we do for our squad, our platoon, and our company. There are people you don't even particularly like, but you do love them and there's not a damned thing in this world you wouldn't do for them. An extended family, but every bit as much family as the one we were born into and usually the families we created.

I salute the men and women who have served over the last 11, almost 12 years! My service pales in comparison to the sacrifices that they have made and I'm almost ashamed to even mention it. They have impressed the hell out of me, in spite of the restrictions dumb assed politicians place upon these brave warriors. I'm filled with grief and remorse they are making sacrifices for an ungrateful nation, for crooked politicians who frankly don't give a shit about or respect them, and whether they live or die has absolutely no meaning to them.

Veterans Day? Fook it! We don't need it! If you won't prosecute a war with the intention of winning it, fucking stay at home damnit! I would imagine they have set aside as special little corner of hell for these asshole politicians that sacrifice this countrys finest. I certanly hope there is anyhow.

"Veteran's Day" is meant to remember the WW1 Vets who are all dead..... and cannot complain about the McCain-Bush-Obama treatment of our current bunch of de-mobbed ex-soldiers.

When my mornin' comes around, no one else will be there
so I won't have to worry about what I'm supposed to say
and I alone will know that I climbed that great big mountain
and that's all that will matter when my mornin' comes around

When my mornin' comes around, I will look back on this valley
at these sidewalks and alleys where I lingered for so long
and this place where I now live will burn to ash and cinder
like some ghost I won't remember
    When my mornin' comes around

When my mornin' comes around, from a new cup I'll be drinking
and for once I won't be thinking that there's something wrong with me
and I'll wake up and find that my faults have been forgiven
and that's when I'll start living
    When my mornin' comes around

From our "Thank You for Your Cervix" files:

On the one-year anniversary of the Navy SEALs assassination of Osama Bin Laden, the Navy has announced a special effort to recruit Muslims into the SEALS, setting up shop in Dearbornistan. And we have learned that this is the major reason that a Navy SEALs movie, “Act of Valor,” had a Jewish villain who planned a major terrorist attack on America and why an starkly anti-Semitic line was added to the script of the movie, which was meant as a SEALs recruitment tool. In fact, the Navy SEALs has begun a Dearborn Swim program for kids in an effort to recruit Muslim Arabs.

But one studio official connected with the film did tell me that the movie was made to recruit more Navy SEALs, since the SEALs plan to expand by 20 percent or more in the next few years. I also learned that the line about the Jews was added by a Navy SEALs leader and was not in the original script or the Tom Clancy book connected with it. And, now, the picture is becoming more complete as to why Jew-hatred was added to the Navy SEALs recruitment movie: the Navy SEALs brass feels the elite military unit is “too White” and is making a special effort to recruit Muslim Arabs from Dearbornistan

While you might ask what Muslim SEALs would have done with the Bin Laden assassination task, well, the Shi’ites in Dearbornistan are against Sunnis like Bin Laden (even though they frequently work with them against us infidels, especially Jews and Americans). Several Muslim Dearbornistanites bragged about serving “the U.S.” in Iraq, but they were actually serving Shia Islam and its goal to take Iraq from Sunni Saddam Hussein who was the last opposition and bulwark against Iran in the now-liberated (by America) Shi’ite crescent, spanning from Lebanon and Syria to Iran. On the other hand, Shi’ites hate America and the U.S. Army a great deal, and they might have tipped off the Bin Laden family, had they been in the mix.

Either way, most Muslims don’t have what it takes to be in the SEALs. And recruiting Dearbornistan Shi’ites–whose allegiance is to Iran and Hezbollah–is just preposterous.

U.S. General David Petraeus said on Wednesday that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict was fomenting anti-American sentiment due to the perception of U.S. favoritism towards Israel.

Speaking to the Senate Armed Services Committee, Petraeus explained that “enduring hostilities between Israel and some of its neighbors present distinct challenges to our ability to advance our interests in the area of responsibility.”

“Arab anger over the Palestinian question limits the strength and depth of U.S. partnerships with governments and peoples [in the region],” Petraeus said.

His comments follow a week of tense relations between Israel and the U.S. following Israel’s announcement of plans to build 1,600 housing units in East Jerusalem, which was made public while U.S. Vice President Joe Biden was visiting the country.

Yup, for this over-rated general, it was the old stand-by: when things get tough, blame the JOOOOOOS and Israel.

Warsaw has seen police fire rubber bullets and tear gas at right-wingers as Poland marked its independence day. Several policemen were injured.
    http://www.dw.de/polish-police-repell-ultranationalists/a-16371369

Polish authorities say two police officers were injured Sunday and several extremists detained for throwing stones and metal objects. The right-wingers disturbed one of the many marches which took place in Warsaw to mark 94 years since Poland regained sovereignty at the close of WWI after over 120 years of foreign rule.

    snip

As demonstrators gathered for the right-wing rally, however, young men with their faces covered by scarves chanted nationalist and anti-Jewish slogans. Police used truncheons to break up a crowd of extremists pelting them with firecrackers and concrete.

Thousands of police were deployed to hold the right-wing extremists back.

White House website deluged with secession petitions from 20 states

How would Old Glory look with 30 stars instead of 50? As far-fetched as it may sound, the White House might soon be forced by its own rules to examine the question.

On Nov.7, the day after President Barack Obama was re-elected, the White House’s website received a petition asking the administration to allow Louisiana to secede.

If 25,000 people sign the petition by Dec. 7, it will “require a response” from the Obama administration, according to published rules of the White House’s online “We the People” program.

Here is the bottom line: Republicans don't win elections when they nominate pseudo-conservatives. They crash and burn. And they have been crashing and burning for decades now. If Romney had any coattails, it was to taint true Republican conservative candidates with his brand of neoconism. When will they ever wake up and realize that they are perceived as being an out-of-touch, elitist, money-driven party that doesn't give a darn about average people? Furthermore, when will they stop treating principled freedomists like toilet paper?

Consider that Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet -- the southern border “has never been more secure than in recent years” -- Napolitano imposed the rules of engagement that contributed significantly to the murder of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry on December 15, 2010.

Namely, Napolitano’s “wisdom” required our warriors on the front line of our southern border war to fire a bean bag round before firing a real bullet. Evidently a real bullet might destabilize the “never been more secure” Mexican border.

On Brian Terry’s last night on this earth, his team encountered an armed cartel rip crew out to steal the cargo of rival smugglers. Terry’s first shot was his bean bag round. The next shot was from a smuggler, and Terry ended up dead.

So much for Napolitano’s kinder, gentler border enforcement rules of engagement.

How the Brotherhood builds power in Syria's opposition

Lieutenant-Colonel Hussein Harmoush, one of the first Syrian army officers to defect, was contacted by the Muslim Brotherhood shortly after he arrived at a refugee camp in Turkey's Hatay province in June of 2011. He was one of a small group of defectors, the Free Officers.

Brotherhood members visited him several times and promised him logistical, financial and material support in exchange for "cooperation".

Lt Col Harmoush replied "tell me what you want and I will decide accordingly", Lt Basim Khaled, speaking for the Free Officers, told me in an interview. "They wanted him to follow their directions and support them politically."

No agreement was reached but the Brotherhood members stayed in touch with Lt Col Harmoush. They also contacted a more recent, higher-ranking defector who agreed to cooperate.

That officer, Colonel Riad Al Asaad, formed a new entity, the Free Syrian Army, without informing the Free Officers. The Brotherhood then abruptly dropped contact with Lt Col Harmoush, who was captured by Syrian authorities under mysterious circumstances in August 2011, after disappearing in Turkey.

The Syrian National Council took over six months to set up, largely due to disagreements over the role of the Brotherhood. When the council was finally formed in October 2011, the MB was given a bigger share of representation than, say, the Damascus Declaration - a group of reformist intellectuals formed in 2005 - in itself a major achievement for the organisation.

Internal opposition group rejects new coalition

One of the leading opposition groups inside Syria has rejected the new coalition formed in Doha and questioned its claim to represent 90% of Assad’s opponents.

Rim Turkmani, spokeswoman for the group Building the Syrian State, said the new coalition was being directed by the international community. In an email to the Guardian she said: “We think that any brokers of opposition unity should be neutral. Right now international players are pulling the opposition apart by sponsoring certain groups over others."

She said the coalition’s claim (see earlier) to represent 90% of the opposition was “not true”.

Asked to say what proportion of the opposition was excluded she said:

It is very difficult to tell, but it is important to remember that not all Syrians are under the banner of political groups, and that many Syrians are neither on the side of the regime nor the opposition. No one can claim to represent most or all Syrians now; neither the regime nor the opposition.

    Israel's 'direct hits' against Syria

Israel has fired "direct hits" at Syrian military targets in response to mortar fire that landed in the occupied Golan Heights, Reuters reports.

Israeli military sources said Syrian mobile artillery was directly hit in the incident.

It was the second time in two days that Israel has responded to what it said was errant Syrian fire. On Sunday the military said it had a fired a "warning shot" across the disengagement line, while on Monday it said it had fired back at "the source".

Military sources would not say if the mortar bomb was fired by Syrian army forces or by the rebels they are battling in and around the United Nations' patrolled area of separation.

In a statement the Israeli Defence Forces said:

A short while ago, a mortar shell hit an open area in the vicinity of an IDF post in the central Golan Heights, as part of the internal conflict inside Syria, causing no damage or injuries.

In response, IDF soldiers fired tank shells towards the source of the fire, confirming direct hits. The IDF has filed a complaint with the UN forces operating in the area, stating that fire emanating from Syria into Israel will not be tolerated and shall be responded to with severity."

Rewind to 1979 for a moment. Iranian young people, mainly leftists, liberals and forward-thinkers took to the streets after decades of corruption, violence and dictatorship at the hands of the Shah. They toppled the leader through street protests and all looked well. But shortly thereafter, the other Iranians, who for the most part had sat out the revolution, became the most public in the country. They began to demand their voice be heard and in came Khomeini, who dramatically changed the country, establishing the conservative nature of modern Iran.

  64. BabbaZee9:21 AM

Egyptians may not be “extremists” but neither were the vast majority of Iranians in 1979 (they still aren’t). But in a country where people listen when you praise God in daily conversation and follow the whims of the so-called religious, do not discount the religious sentiment of the millions who would rather support the Salafists than the liberals, who
are spoken to in a language they understand. The January 25 Revolution may well have been the victory for the left, but now it is turning a different direction.

Let us hope they solve their issues and open dialogue, or we face a new “revolution” that most would rather not witness.

Sexual harassment is the practical manifestation of our contempt for women. We no longer respect women in Egypt. I say "no longer" because women in Egypt had for decades experienced a culture of true respect. Egyptian women were pioneers in education, entering the work force, and public service. That is, until Wahhabi interpretations of Islam (supported by oil wealth) began to penetrate Egypt. In the Wahhabi view, women's role is confined to her bodily functions, and whole generations of Egyptians were raised to think that women are nothing but an instrument of pleasure that must be covered and hidden away from men so that they do not fall victim to her enticements. And today we see Wahhabi-Salafist sheikhs refusing to see any minimum age of consent for marrying a woman in the Egyptian constitution because they believe that it is a man's right to marry a woman even if she is a child of ten, “so long as she can physically bear copulation,” as one of their sheikhs put it. These men do not believe that women require any mental or emotional maturity beyond that possessed by a sexually-mature child. A woman to them is nothing but a pleasure machine that a man has the right to use as long as they will not be damaged or rendered inoperable.

Vehicles searched for empty bullet rounds

    Paul Joseph Watson

    November 12, 2012

Drivers were quizzed about their shooting habits and had their vehicles searched by Forest and National Park rangers at a checkpoint in Redington Pass, Arizona this past weekend.

Citing the problem of firearms enthusiasts shooting their guns near the main road and leaving empty bullet casings, the feds stopped and searched vehicles to check if the empty rounds had been picked up.

“A driver admitted shooting, but did not have the empty casings. A Game and Fish officer turned him around and told him to pick up his empty rounds,” reports KVOA.

The officials also searched vehicles for other illegal items, including marijuana, alcohol and in one case an illegally killed deer. Four people were arrested on outstanding warrants and officers issued 11 citations, including one for underage drinking.

News reports failed to raise concern about the fact that law enforcement officials used the Fourth Amendment-busting checkpoint to quiz shooters about their gun habits, claiming that, “Many who went through the checkpoint appreciated the enforcement.”

Although the checkpoint was ostensibly justified in the name of combating littering, the fact that gun owners are being pulled over and identified by the feds is certain to stoke apprehension amongst many in the second amendment community.

The checkpoint, which snagged around 250 vehicles on Saturday, was set up in the aftermath of record gun salesand a resurgence in first time gun owners following the re-election of Barack Obama. The Forest Service plans to close three shooting sites in the area, citing the scourge of trash and empty rounds.

Since most of Arizona is federal land, this also seems to be an effort to discourage the exercise of the second amendment in the state. While the feds are hyping the problem caused by empty bullet shells, they don’t seem as fussed about the piles of trash being left behind by illegal immigrants and drug smugglers as they pass back and forth between Mexico.

In September, we reported on how gun owners were being treated with suspicion for merely buying a few boxes of ammo. Commercial fisherman Brian Loftus was questioned by police after being reported for purchasing bullets at his local gun store. The man who reported him, an employee for the Chief of Police, called in Loftus as a potential threat to make sure he “wasn’t going to do something crazy.”

Unannouncedcheckpoints, historically associated with dictatorial regimes, are popping up in numerous different guises across America.

A “Constitution-free zone” which includes areas within 100 miles of the border has been put in place which authorizes US Border Patrol agents to set up checkpoints targeting two thirds of Americans who live within this buffer zone.

Drivers who are asked questions and threatened with searches at these checkpoints are refusing to co-operate in increasing numbers, citing the Fourth Amendment. Some are allowed to go on their way while others, like retired San Diego social worker Vince Peppard and his wife, are having their vehicles ransacked against their will.

Communism: a system of government in which all economic and social activity is controlled by a totalitarian state dominated by a single and self-perpetuating ostensibly left wing political party. In this system all Corporations and Banks are controlled by the state, see SOVIET MONOPOLIES

Before the Russian Revolution of 1917, “socialism” and “communism” were synonyms. Both referred to economic systems in which the government owns the means of production. The two terms diverged in meaning largely as a result of the political theory and practice of Vladimir Lenin (1870–1924). http://www.econlib.org/library/Enc/Communism.html

Fascism: a system of government in which all economic and social activity is controlled by a totalitarian state dominated by a single and self-perpetuating right wing nationalistic and or racist political party. Economic systems in which the means of production ostensibly "own" the Government.

As an economic system, fascism is socialism with a capitalist veneer. Fascism substituted the particularity of
nationalism and racialism—“blood and soil”—for the internationalism of
both classical liberalism and Marxism. http://www.econlib.org/library/Enc/Fascism.html

Daniel A. Machiela The Dead Sea Genesis Apocryphon: A New Text and Translation with Introduction and Special Treatment of Columns 13-17 (Studies on the Texts of the Desert of Judah)
    BRILL | 2009 | ISBN: 9004168141 | 328 pages | File type: PDF | 14,3 mb
The so-called Genesis Apocryphon (1Q20) from Qumran Cave 1 has suffered from decades of neglect, due in large part to its poor state of preservation. As part of a resurgent scholarly interest in the Apocryphon, and its prominent position among the Aramaic Dead Sea Scrolls, this volume presents a fresh transcription, translation, and exstenive textual notes drawing on close study of the original manuscript, all available photographs, and previous publications. In addition, a detailed analysis of columns 13-15 and their relation to the oft-cited parallel in the Book of Jubilees reveals a number of ways in which the two works differ, thereby highlighting several distinctive features of the Genesis Apocryphon. The result is a reliable text edition and a fuller understanding of the message conveyed by this fragmentary but fascinating retelling of Genesis.

    Just keeps gettin' weirder..

Paula Broadwell, the former military intelligence officer whose alleged affair with CIA Director David Petraeus culminated in the end of his career, had earlier made some startling, now-revealed claims about the agency’s role in the Sept. 11, 2012, attack on the U.S. diplomatic post in Benghazi.

In an Oct. 26 speech at the University of Denver, she said that Libyan militants had attacked the post to retrieve some fellow fighters who’d been taken prisoner at the nearby CIA annex. She also seems to suggest that Petraeus himself knew about it, implying that he may have been her source. Here’s the relevant passage from the speech, transcribed in full here by Foreign Policy’s Blake Hounshell.

Now, I don’t know if a lot of you heard this, but the CIA annex had actually, um, had taken a couple of Libyan militia members prisoner and they think that the attack on the consulate was an effort to try to get these prisoners back. So that’s still being vetted.

The challenging thing for General Petraeus is that in his new position, he’s not allowed to communicate with the press. So he’s known all of this — they had correspondence with the CIA station chief in, in Libya. Within 24 hours they kind of knew what was happening.

"I was just following orders": a Seroquel suicide, a study coordinator, and a "corrective action"

Out here in Minnesota, where the snow is gently falling, many of us are hunched over our computers, puzzling over a document just posted by the state Board of Social Work. It concerns the death of Dan Markingson (or as the document calls him, “Client #1”). Markingson, of course, was a young man under a commitment order who was coerced into a profitable Seroquel marketing study at the University of Minnesota over the objections of his mother, and whose condition spiraled downward until he committed suicide. The Minnesota Board of Social Work has just issued an “agreement for corrective action” for Jeanne Kenney, the study coordinator for the CAFÉ study in which Markingson died.

    SNIP

It also appears as if Markingson was enrolled in the CAFÉ study without his consent. On March 17, 2004, the study sponsor warned investigators of a new risk of Seroquel – specifically, the hyperglycemia and weight gain now known to be common side-effects of many atypical antipsychotics. Kenney was supposed to notify all study subjects of this new danger and ask for their agreement to remain in the study by signing a revised consent form. But Kenney failed to do this. As the Board points out, this failure to communicate this new information “effectively invalidated” Markingson’s informed consent.

She was so sure of it that she called the police on the way.

The officers went in first. They found Kelli Marie Grese, 37, dead of a self-administered prescription drug overdose. She had taken a massive quantity of the antipsychotic drug Seroquel.

She had tried to kill herself with the same drug three times before over the previous eight months, but those doses proved less than fatal. This time, she made sure. She had persuaded her doctor at the Hampton VA Medical Center to prescribe a 120-day supply of Seroquel.

The Next Step in Israeli-American Exercise: Patriot Launchings Release date 12.11.2012

Simulated attacks on Israel, Patriot launchings and cooperation of all operational aerial defense fronts: The Israeli-American AC exercise reaches its peak
    Shir Aharon Bram

This week, the most advanced combat lab in the world for active defense began the operational stage of its exercise--interception. U.S and Israeli forces, which are practicing defense from a general attack, will simulate a variety of scenarios of missile attacks on Israel and launch PAC-2 16 Patriot missiles, the type Israel uses. The "Patriot" system is an advanced system whose purpose is to intercept enemy planes and ground-to-air missiles. "This is first and foremost an expression of the deep-rooted cooperation between us and the Americans, and the adaption of the systems toward possible future examinations", said Minister of Defense Ehud Barak, "Additionally, it is proof that the older, veteran systems still work well and produce results".

In a rare opportunity, Patriot fighters of the Aerial Defense Formation will be able to practice actual launchings of the missiles. This is also the first time they will be practicing interceptions on the new version of the Patriot system, which had begun to be operated a short while before the AC exercise. Alongside said IAF fighters, an entire American Patriot division that has arrived in Israel for the joint exercise will practice as well. This division uses the PAC-3 advanced version of the Patriot missile.

    All Operational Systems Practice Together

Missile launchings are conducted after the simulation week, in which the Aerial Defense Formation and U.S forces simulated a scenario contesting with barrages of missiles. In an advanced simulation, all the operational missile interception systems were grouped together: Israeli and American Patriot batteries, the "Arrow" system, Iron Dome and AEGIS ships. In addition, an American Patriot battalion back in the U.S participated in the simulation from afar and even practiced alongside the Israeli forces.

In the operations room that was constructed in the American forces' area, a large map of the Middle East is being screened to the participants, with small lines running across and up and down it. Every line represents a launching of a missile toward Israel. "From here you can see everything we're planning on launching", explains Major Tamir Tzimber, an Aerial Defense officer responsible for planning the scenarios. "The forces practicing can only see what is falling, and don't know what will happen afterwards. A judgment cell examines the performance of the systems and the interception statistics, and at the end of every day everyone gathers and we have a joint debrief to understand our conclusions".

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. -- Police fatally shot a Camp Pendleton Marine who struck an officer with a car in a parking garage in Palm Springs, authorities said Monday.

The Marine repeatedly ignored orders to stop after being approached by officers on bike patrol around 2 a.m. Saturday, the Palm Springs Police Department said in a statement.

One of the officers partially climbed into the passenger window to stop the car, but the Marine accelerated, striking the other officer, the department said. The Marine kept driving with the officer hanging out of the window until the car crashed near the garage exit, it said.

Both officers were treated for injuries at a hospital and released. They have been placed on administrative leave while the department investigates.

The Marine died at the scene and the lone passenger, another Marine, was not injured, authorities said.

"In the course of these events, fearing for their safety and the safety of others both officers discharged their weapons," the statement said.

Police said authorities later found a smartphone in the car that was reported stolen by someone whose identification card was found in the Marine's pants pocket.

The lone passenger was arrested for investigation of public intoxication and for an unrelated misdemeanor warrant then released. Police did not release his name.

DeVillena's father, Alan DeVillena, told the newspaper his son and the passenger had gone out to celebrate the 237th birthday of the Marine Corps, which was Saturday.

The father said the family was headed to Palm Springs to find out what had happened after being notified of his son's death by the Marine Corps.

The newspaper reported both Marines were with the 1st Marine Logistics Group based in Camp Pendleton, but the men were stationed at Twentynine Palms.

Marine Corps officials could not be immediately reached for comment Monday when many offices were closed to celebrate Veterans Day.

DeVillena said his son served in Afghanistan and was due to finish his four-year enlistment in about two months. He said he planned to attend college.

"He was looking to get into audio engineering," DeVillena told the newspaper. "He wanted to get into recording. He wrote a lot. He had a passion for music."

Franz read a statement, saying, on Saturday, November 10, 2012, at approximately 1:59 AM, two Palm Springs Police Department police officers were on bicycle patrol outside of the parking structure at 275 South Indian Canyon Drive, following the local bar closures.

As the officers rode outside, they heard yelling coming from inside the parking structure. The officers rode into the structure to investigate. They saw a male individual walking towards a black Chrysler 300 that was stopped facing the south wall. They recognized him, as well as the suspect driving the vehicle, from an earlier interaction with the two involving public intoxication that had been successfully resolved without incident.

When the two men began yelling derogatory comments at the officers, the officers dismounted from their bicycles and approached the vehicle on foot. One officer asked the suspect to turn off the car. The suspect ignored the officer's orders and began turning the vehicle around. The officer repeatedly ordered the suspect to stop the vehicle but he refused to do so.

The testimony Petraeus gave Congress on Benghazi shortly after the assassination of our ambassador to Libya was a restatement of the patently false narrative foisted on the country by Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and their underlings -- to wit, that the assault on the American consulate was a spontaneous demonstration in reaction to the Coptic Christian's Youtube video.

Petraeus had to know better. The Benghazi bungle took place on the anniversary of 9/11. There was plenty of intelligence available to Petraeus prior to the event suggesting that Al Qaeda was becoming a real force in the region, and the e-mails that the CIA sent the White House at the time indicate that the folks in the agency knew within hours that the attack had been carefully planned and knew who in Benghazi was responsible.

So why did a man always known for his honor and integrity go before a Congressional committee and lie through his teeth? If Washington were Chicago, we would know the answer. Blackmail is, in Chicago, standard operating procedure. Is Washington now Chicago? Is Petraeus leaving office a disgraced and broken man because one act of dishonor and betrayal led him to commit another far more shameful?

  148. The whistle-blower who started the investigation that uncovered the affair of former CIA director David Petraeus first went to Washington Congressman Dave Reichert.

The Seattle Times reports Reichert's office won't say why the FBI employee went to the Congressman, but Reichert passed the national security concerns to House majority leader Eric Cantor.

Reichert's office also won't say if the Congressman ever actually spoke with the whistle-blower.

  150. The loss of field records has far-reaching implications beyond the toll it is taking on disabled veterans. Field records are the bedrock of military history research, and their loss will make it much harder for military historians to reconstruct what happened in detail, and thus limit the ability of military strategists to learn lessons from Iraq and Afghanistan. “I can’t even start to describe the dimensions of the problem,” said Conrad C. Crane, director of the U.S. Army’s Military History Institute. “I fear we’re never really going to know clearly what happened in Iraq and Afghanistan because we don’t have the records.”

Top US commander in Afghanistan Gen. John Allen under investigation for alleged 'inappropriate communications'

The Pentagon says the top American commander in Afghanistan, Gen. John Allen, is under investigation for alleged "inappropriate" e-mail communications, and a senior defense official says there is a "distinct possibility" the matter is connected with the FBI investigation that led to the resignation of former CIA director David Petraeus.

Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said in a written statement issued to reporters aboard his aircraft early Tuesday that the FBI referred the matter to the Pentagon on Sunday, and that he ordered a Pentagon investigation of Allen on Monday.

The defense official confirmed the investigation was due to allegations of inappropriate emails between Allen and Jill Kelley, a close friend of the Petraeus family who reportedly led the FBI to investigate communications between Petraeus and his biographer Paula Broadwell.

Under the draft rules, ordinary homeowners may face six years in prison
and fines of $100,000 a day if they are deemed serial offenders of such
new crimes as allowing sprinklers to hit the pavement, washing a car in

WASHINGTON—Following the resignation of CIA director David Petraeus amid recent reports of marital infidelity, current acting director Michael Morell assured Americans Monday that he does not engage in any form of sexual activity whatsoever. “Under no circumstances do I ever take part in sexual acts of any kind, nor do I desire to, nor have I ever deemed this activity necessary in any way,” Morell told reporters at a press conference, explaining that his genitals are “solely for excreting urine and absolutely nothing else.” “I have never had sex in the past, I am not having sex now, and I guarantee I will never have sex in the future, be it for pleasure, procreation, or any other purpose. Indeed, I am a fully asexual being who possesses neither the need nor the inclination for sexual intercourse.” Morell then stared unblinkingly at the assembled press corps for a full five minutes.

Positive statements about MB positions from Republican leaders such as Senator McCain and regular congressional meetings with MB members insulate the administration from domestic criticism of engagement policies.

    http://www.familysecuritymatters.org/publications/detail/rand-recommends-us-government-sell-the-muslim-brotherhood-to-us-public?f=puball#ixzz2C6IlbHcx

The more regular and normalized that contact becomes, the less engagement is vulnerable to becoming a target of political attacks in the United States and the more it will be viewed as the normal course of diplomacy. As Nathan Brown argues, now that the MB operates a legal political party and has become a dominant player in Egyptian politics, "having normal diplomatic contact with the [MB] makes sense. But trumpeting the policy . . . is a mistake-it generates exaggerated expectations and fears all around."50 Engagement can also be insulated from domestic political attacks by having more members of Congress, rather than just administration officials, directly meet MB members. The Obama administration has already reached out to the Hill to educate members on the MB, address concerns, and plan more parliamentary exchanges.51 Exchanges between American congressional and Egyptian parliamentary staff could also prove fruitful. In addition, Congress can host FJP parliamentarians and staff to observe American political processes, such as nominating conventions.

In other words, this a deliberate plan to sell the Muslim Brotherhood to the U.S. public through a campaign of psychological manipulation.

GMBDR notes that this is one of the most egregiously manipulative documents on the Muslim Brotherhood that we have seen to date.

Officers order neighbor to end garden-hose firefight, TASER him

Officers say he ignored their orders to move back

    The Tampa Bay Times

PINELLAS PARK, Fla. — Family and friends of a man shot with a Taser Thursday night as he tried to battle a house fire with a garden hose said they are baffled by authorities' actions.

"He was just doing what anybody would do," Angela Jensen, 42, said of her husband Dan. "He was trying to protect his house and help his neighbors."

Dan Jensen, 42, was still too upset to talk on Friday, but that didn't stop residents in his tight-knit neighborhood from sharing their views.

Many said they don't think it was right that police used such force with Jensen, who woke up from a nap when his wife started screaming about a fire next door at 3420 Beechwood Terrace N.

The fire already had engulfed that home and a fence between the two houses. Flames were licking the corner of the Jensens' home by the time the father of two came outside in his underwear.

Jensen stood on tiny strip of lawn between the two homes and emptied a fire extinguisher. He ran inside, slipped on pants and returned outside, grabbing his garden hose.

Firefighters had not yet arrived, but police soon did.

Officers told Dan Jensen to back off. He did, but then at some point went to pick up the hose again. That's when an officer hit him with a Taser in the back.

"We're not saying everything police do is wrong, but they could have handled it differently," said neighbor Ed Gorecki, 48.

Park Capt. Sanfield Forseth said although Dan Jensen wasn't physically fighting officers, they feared for his safety — and their own.

"They felt that if they went hands on with him, that there was a high possibility he would fight with them," Forseth said, noting that Dan Jensen was visibly frustrated and yelling. Officers had ordered him to get back. "He wasn't fighting but he was ignoring."

There was a good reason for that, his neighbors said. Residents of the area, called Park Place Estates, stick together.

100 IQ limit for US cops:

Forseth said officers made a "split-second decision"
about the type of force to use. Officer Daniel Sosa-Jones was a few feet away — maybe arm's length — from Dan Jensen.

The officer will have to do a defensive action report; administrative staff have already reviewed the incident.

"I think we can all sympathize with the guy," Forseth said. "But the police give orders and instructions for a reason. Sometimes people are acting out of passion and they don't realize the danger they might be putting themselves in."

In a truly democratic society, one is gaining knowledge directly through one’s own experience with the world, not through the filter of an authority or what Mander calls a mediated experience. TV-dominated people ultimately accept others’ mediated version of the world rather than discovering their own version based on their own experiences
