Home again. Nothing new to tell since earlier; the new test said the same thing as the old test. He had a stroke.

May our God bless the staff at this hospital because he's even crankier and more contentious than usual. I'm semi-accustomed to being screamed at and ignored. Them, not so much. He keeps trying to get up to pee unassisted. He WILL fall on his face and break something if he does but he keeps at it anyway. I got the full-on hissing anger when I tried to - gently - stop him until someone could come to help. He might want to think twice about abusing nurses with the power to make his life really, really miserable.

Looks like he'll be staying put until Monday when they will be transferring him to a rehab unit for about 2 weeks. In that time I need to retrofit the family room as a bedroom and finally get the downstairs bathroom remodel finished so he'll be able to use it. Oy.

Yes, Our government has approved the recruitment of 75 000 reserve soldiers.

It is about seven divisions or 28 brigades.
In addition to what is already there, the number of troops is enormous, and amounts to about 100 battalions.
In military terms this is a full Corps
I cannot imagine that the operation will not happen soon.
Despite your criticism towards the public and the U.S. government. (And it is quite justified criticism.)
The U.S. Senate and Congress led unanimous support for Israel.your president also leveled at the same line.

There are reports, from the last minutes, that artillery batteries, advanced toward the border of the Gaza Strip.
By my estimation, the immovable army forces will storm soon. Well the previous attack against them a few years ago, began with artillery concert. So it probably will happen also now. Artillery bombardment designed to soften the enemy before an assault. That is why the artillery approaching.

Also you cannot hold so many forces, in anticipation. loosening is created if a Military force stands in a long time, doing nothing.

These are the reasons, that the attack will take place any time soon.
I think tonight or tomorrow night.
Everything can be delayed because of political decisions or if the army will wait for further reinforcements.

But these are only estimates of an old veteran Sergeant in the IDF

According to Russia's TASS news agency, a grim milestone was achieved in Syria a few days ago: several peaceful demonstrators in Aleppo were massacred. [1] The twist is that the demonstrators were calling for protection by the Syrian army to end the destruction of the city; they were shot by insurgents.

A single, thinly sourced news item is not needed to demonstrate the profound moral and strategic disarray afflicting the Syrian insurrection as the country totters toward collapse. A handier and more reliable reference point is the abrupt and forcible reorganization of the overseas Syrian opposition at the behest of the United States.

The Syrian National Council (SNC) is now just a junior partner in a broader opposition grouping, the "Syrian National Coalition for Opposition and Revolutionary Forces" (SNCORF). Reportedly, this new group was formed at the insistence of US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. She is retiring in a few weeks and apparently wished to pull the plug on the ineffectual SNC and replace it with something less overtly Sunni/Muslim Brotherhood-esque. The SNC's major sponsor, Qatar, and the great minds at the Doha branch of the Brookings Institute responded with the marvel that is SNCORF.

In the name of democracy, Qatar has exploited the Arab uprisings to expand its power in the region; similarly, Saudi Arabia, under the banner of democracy, wants apparently to spread its Wahhabism. Turkey plans to revive its Ottoman Empire, Iran its Persian hegemony over the Gulf region, and the Muslim Brotherhood and other Islamists announce
that they want to fulfill their dream of the revived Caliphate -- all, they claim, in pursuit of democracy.

I'm taking my son to the gun and knife show this morning. One of the things I sent my best friends son was a very nice Smith&Wesson knife. They actually make a very reasonable, but high quality knife. A lot like the old Gerber Mini-Magnum. I'm also curious about the situation with ammo. Various rounds. I'm curious where the hell all of this is ending up. I know where the .40's are going, but what about the 12Ga. and .223 Remington?

Maybe it would be wise to invest in a press this morning, and grab as many primers as I can lay my hands on. We'll check the situation out and at the very least grab a ton of cleaning material. You can't have enough weapon cleaning material for your various "pellet" rifles.

With obamao being re-elected I would imagine that I'll notice prices shooting back up once again like that did last time. That's a damned shame for a number or reasons.

    1. It artificially inflates the price of firearms and ammo. This is bad.
    2. Too many idiots that have no idea which end of the barrel the round comes out of. That is also bad.
    3. Some moron with a few bucks in his pockets is liable to do something remarkably stupid and GovCo will insist on "protecting" me from myself, which means disarming me. That is also very bad.

Living among the dumb in the land of the stupid is very challenging indeed.

Most of the Republican members of a Senate committee investigating the terrorist attack at the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, skipped a classified briefing by administration officials on the incident Wednesday, CNN has learned…

When CNN approached McCain in a Capitol hallway Thursday morning, the senator refused to comment about why he missed the briefing, which was conducted by top diplomatic, military and counter-terrorism officials. Instead, McCain got testy when pressed to say why he wasn’t there.

“I have no comment about my schedule and I’m not going to comment on how I spend my time to the media,” McCain said.

The secular country of Israel will achieve victory, namely peace when the two sides, Israeli and Palestinian people come to an agreement and live peacefully side by side. Just because this task is extremely difficult does not mean the United States should not try to be a peace maker.

The American Psychiatric Association is set to add "disruptive mood dysregulation disorder" to the Diagnostic Statistical Manual (DSM), the bible of psychiatric disorders. A kid has "DMDD" if she or he has "severe recurrent temper outbursts that are grossly out of proportion in intensity or duration to the situation... at least three times a week."

As Wired's David Dobbs notes, this describes basically all kids ("No, I don't want to wear my rain boots!") at some time or another. So why is this being considered? Here's Neuroskeptic's explanation:

DMDD seems to be nothing to do with mood, but instead covers a pattern of misbehavior which is already covered by not one but two labels already. Why add a misleadingly-named third?

Well, the back-story is that in the past ten years, many American kids and even toddlers have got diagnosed with ‘child bipolar disorder‘ – a disease considered extremely rare everywhere else. To stop this, the DSM-5 committee want to introduce DMDD as a replacement. This is the officially stated reason for introducing it. On the evidence of this paper and others it wouldn’t even achieve this dubious goal.

The possibility of just going to back to the days when psychiatrists didn’t diagnose prepubescent children with bipolar (except in very rare cases) seems to not be on the table.

14 Therefore hear the word of the Lord, you scoffers
who rule this people in Jerusalem.
15 You boast, “We have entered into a covenant with death,
with the realm of the dead we have made an agreement.
When an overwhelming scourge sweeps by,
    it cannot touch us,
for we have made a lie our refuge
    and falsehood[b] our hiding place.”

16 So this is what the Sovereign Lord says:

“See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone,
    a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation;
the one who relies on it
will never be stricken with panic.
17 I will make justice the measuring line
    and righteousness the plumb line;
hail will sweep away your refuge, the lie,
and water will overflow your hiding place.
    18 Your covenant with death will be annulled;
your agreement with the realm of the dead will not stand.
When the overwhelming scourge sweeps by,
you will be beaten down by it.
    19 As often as it comes it will carry you away;
morning after morning, by day and by night,
    it will sweep through.”

    The understanding of this message
    will bring sheer terror.

Report: Hamas agrees to hold fire if Israel lifts blockade

Hamas has said that it would stop firing rockets on Israel if the Jewish state lifts the blockade that it has placed on Gaza and stops assassinations, the Palestine Al-Youm news website, which is affiliated with the Islamic Jihad, reported.

According to the report, the stipulations were made during a meeting between Hamas delegates and Egyptian officials in Cairo.

Without warning, Twitter suspended a series of three accounts owned by an Orthodox Jew from New York City Wednesday and Thursday, after one of them tweeted a cartoon depicting the Obama administration stabbing Israel in the back. The social media company refused to tell The Daily Caller if the cartoon was the reason it shut the accounts down.

Twitter also wouldn’t say why it hasn’t taken similar action against the terror group Hamas and its supporters for tweeting “Death to the Jews” and other threats of violence.

Well, I was certainly wrong about Petraeus pulling an Erwin Rommel on this, this thing. No, he doubled down, and swore under oath that what they thought they had heard him say under his first testimony (it was a video!) was not at all what he had actually said (it was terrists!). That's a hell of a gamble, with your palm print still warm on the Bible.

US President Barack Obama called Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan to discuss how the two countries could help bring an end to escalating violence between Israel and Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, a White House official said on Saturday.

Ben Rhodes, White House deputy national security adviser, told reporters the United States "wants the same thing as the Israelis want," which is an end to rocket attacks on Israel by Palestinian militants in Gaza, emphasizing diplomacy and "de-escalation" (Capitulation by the Jews) as keys to solving the conflict. Cleaning pads, rifle rods, pipe cleaners for the rifles, Hopps Gun Oil, beef jerky (we always do that, is tradition). I've never seen a line so long before, ever to get into a gun show. The unintended consequences of a society that just re-elected a gun-grabber (to be honest, mittens is a gun-grabber too) The cost for the 55Gr. Federal Full-Metal Jacket ammo was actually $30 less online so I'm going to buy that instead. Prices have gone up quite a bit. The M&P 15 is about $150 more than it was a year ago. Egypt will continue to support Gaza against continued attacks from Israeli armed forces, President Mohamed Morsi reiterated on Friday.

“The price will be high if the aggression continues,” Morsi said after he performed Friday prayers in Fatma Al-Sharbatly Mosque in Cairo’s Fifth Settlement.

“Egypt is different from yesterday,” he added. “We assure them [Israel] that the price will be high for continued aggression, and [we tell them] you have to bear the responsibility.”

During Morsi’s speech, worshipers chanted: “Khaybar, Khaybar, Oh Jews, the army of Mohamed will return,”

That’s the equivalent of German soccer fans chanting, “Auschwitz, Auschwitz.” It’s a reference to the historical Muslim ethnic cleansing, enslavement and massacre of Jews.

That was followed by this love note on Twitter

Morsi tweeted on his Twitter page: “We have the power to uproot the aggressiveness just like it uprooted exploitation. I don’t want to take unusual steps but if I see that the homeland is in danger, I won’t hesitate.”

And just in case there was any ambiguity…

Morsi said earlier that “Gaza will not remain alone as it was,” adding that the aggressors “know they will pay a heavy price is they continue their aggression.” He also said that “the Egyptians throughout their history were not an aggressive people, but they are capable of stopping any attack.”

Morsi is talking as if Gaza is part of Egypt, which from his standpoint and that of the Muslim Brotherhood it is, but at the same time refusing to take responsibility for it. It’s contradictory and hypocritical. Gaza is part of Egypt when it comes to threatening Israel, but not part of Egypt when it comes to providing social services and law enforcement. It’s an independent territory, but Egypt is now obligated to defend it, but bears no responsibility for its aggression.

Meanwhile the Muslim Brotherhood party is drafting an amendment to allow the Egyptian military to take over the Sinai, which amounts to an end to the Camp David Accords and the beginning of a slide into war.

Mumford & Sons Says That He Drew Inspiration From Bob Dylan
Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 11.16.2012
    http://www.411mania.com/music/news/263198/Mumford-&-Sons-Says-That-He-Drew-Inspiration-From-Bob-Dylan.htm
To get over criticism that the band isn't authentic...

Marcus Mumford says that Bob Dylan has been an inspiration when dealing with criticism that Mumford and Sons isn't "authentic." Mumford told the Guardian that he look to Dylan's attitude in people who badmouth the band.

"The authenticity thing has never been an issue for me," he said. "Not since I came to the realisation that Dylan, who's probably my favourite artist ever, the richest artist for me, didn't give a shit about authenticity. He changed his name. And modelled himself on Woody Guthrie. And lied to everyone about who he was."

Winston Marshall elaborated on the criticism, noting, "We get accused of inauthenticity because we play the instruments we play. [Peter Green's] from Bethnal Green – and he's this fucking incredible blues guitarist. Nothing fucking authentic about that, right? But actually there is. He loves it. It's what he's good at. It's not like he's saying he's from the Delta. It's not like we're saying anything like that."
