Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah, Secretary-General of Hizbullah, confirmed, Thursday evening, that the Lebanese Shi'ite terror organization was behind the launching of the drone aircraft that was shot down by the Israel Air Force on Shabbat. Interviewed on the Hizbullah-associated Al-Manar Television, he boasted, "This is not the first mission and not the last." He also said it was the first time his organization had used this kind of Iranian-made aircraft, calling it bigger and better than one used in 2006.
Nasrallah claimed the unmanned aerial vehicle flew over several important Israeli bases and near the nuclear reactor in Dimona before it was discovered. He labelled as a lie Israel's contention that the drone was detected over the Mediterranean and that it waited to shoot the UAV down until it was over open territory, explaining that the flight path was over Israeli, American and United Nations detection measures. http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/Flash.aspx/251700

Pink Floyd’s Nazi: Roger Waters Troubled by “Jewish Power” in
    America

    By Debbie
    Schlussel
    Roger Waters of Pink Floyd
thinks Jews have too much power in America. If you are still a Pink Floyd
    fan–even after his anti-Israel activism and pro-Palestinian, pro-Islamic
terrorism diatribes, as detailed on this site–then his new bigotry,
not just against Israel, but specifically against Jews, might not bother you
since we know that most Israel-haters are really just Jew-haters with a more
“high-brow” pretense. Likewise, it’s no surprise that this aging friend of the
jihad is now an admitted Jew-hater. http://www.debbieschlussel.com/

Many believe that Barack Obama chose Joe Biden for his running mate to address a profound weakness on foreign policy. Power Line points out an example of the Biden prowess on foreign relations that first appeared in The New Republic’s profile of Biden from October 2001. In a vignette at the end of the article, Biden ponders mightily over how the US should respond to 9/11:
At the Tuesday-morning meeting with committee staffers, Biden launches into a stream-of-consciousness monologue about what his committee should be doing, before he finally admits the obvious: “I’m groping here.” Then he hits on an idea: America needs to show the Arab world that we’re not bent on its destruction. “Seems to me this would be a good time to send, no strings attached, a check for $200 million to Iran,” Biden declares. He surveys the table with raised eyebrows, a How do ya like that? look on his face. The staffers sit in silence. Finally somebody ventures a response: “I think they’d send it back.” Then another aide speaks up delicately: “The thing I would worry about is that it would almost look like a publicity stunt.” Still another reminds Biden that an Iranian delegation is in Moscow that very day to discuss a $300 million arms deal with Vladimir Putin that the United States has strongly condemned. But Joe Biden is barely listening anymore. He’s already moved on to something else. http://hotair.com/archives/2008/08/23/bidens-foreign-policy-chops/

The NYPD shot several more people last year than in 2010, according to the department's annual firearms discharge report [pdf].

But 2010 marked an all-time low for police shootings, so the NYPD is
framing the statistical spike in that context— 9 suspects were shot and
killed, with an additional 19 injured by NYPD bullets in 2011, compared
to 8 killed and 16 injured in 2010. There are a lot of stats in the
report, but here's the NYPD explaining why you should admire their
    restraint:

In 2011, the number of firearms discharge incidents
involving members of the New York City Police Department remained
unchanged from the previous year: 92 total incidents. As was true last
year, this is the smallest number of firearms discharges since the
recording of police shootings in the City began. While it must be
acknowledged that the most serious category of discharges—shootings
involving adversarial conflict with a subject—increased by 9 percent
over last year’s record low, it is also true that experiencing 36
adversarial-conflict incidents during a year makes for a remarkably
    infrequent rate.

In context, the rarity is even more apparent: in a city of 8.2
million people, from a Department of nearly 35,000 uniformed members who
interacted with citizens in ap-proximately 23 million instances, 62
officers were involved in 36 incidents of intentional firearms
discharges during an adversarial conflict, with 19 subjects injured and
nine killed. This is an impressive record of firearms control.

An aide to Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi announced, Thursday evening, that he is replacing Abdel Maguid Mahmoud as General Prosecutor, following Wednesday's decision by an Egyptian court to clear 24 people loyal to former president Hosni Mubarak who had been charged with planning an attack against opponents of the regime during events of the 2011 revolution. While no official reason was given, Mahmoud was cited by critics for presenting a weak case against the defendants. The aide announced that Mahmoud will be Cairo's ambassador to the Vatican. http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/Flash.aspx/251701

    http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2012/oct/10/irs-says-tax-avoidance-heart-solyndra-bankruptcy-p/

The Internal Revenue Service urged a bankruptcy judge to reject solar panel maker Solyndra LLC’s
bankruptcy plan Wednesday, saying it amounts to little more than an
avenue for owners of an empty corporate shell to avoid paying taxes.

“The undeniable conclusion is that tax benefits drive this plan,” attorneys for the IRS wrote in a bankruptcy pleading.

    Arguing
that the bankruptcy court ought not confirm a plan “whose principal
purpose is tax avoidance,” attorneys said in filings in U.S. Bankruptcy
Court in Delaware that the tax breaks would be worth more money than
    funds set aside for creditors.

Taxpayers are on the hook for more
than a half-billion dollars after the company filed for bankruptcy
last year, just two years after winning a loan guarantee from the Department of Energy.

SEATTLE (AP) — Washington state is on the verge of becoming the first in the nation to let adults over 21 buy taxed, inspected marijuana at state-licensed shops.

It might not clear up more than a decade of confusion that resulted from the state’s medical marijuana law, or reverse the proliferation of dispensaries. But supporters say passing Initiative 502 on Nov. 6 could make drug laws more reasonable, prevent thousands of arrests a year, and bring Washington hundreds of millions of dollars to help pay for schools, health care and basic government services.

Just as likely, it could bring on a protracted fight with the federal government. Marijuana remains illegal under U.S. law, and when state and federal laws conflict, federal law takes precedence. The Justice Department has kept mum, but if I-502 passes, many lawyers believe the DOJ is likely to try to block the law on the grounds that it frustrates the Controlled Substances Act.

For mainstream American Jewish groups, it has long been an article of faith that strong alliances with liberal Protestant denominations with whom they shared a common agenda on domestic issues is integral to the safeguarding of the security and the rights of the Jewish community. That has been tested in recent years, as some of their liberal Christian partners debated supporting efforts to boycott, divest and sanction the state of Israel. But the latest instance of liberal Christians attacking Israel ought to cut the cord completely

FLAC stands for Free Lossless Audio Codec, an audio format similar to
MP3, but lossless, meaning that audio is compressed in FLAC without any
loss in quality. This is similar to how Zip works, except with FLAC you
will get much better compression because it is designed specifically
for audio, and you can play back compressed FLAC files in your favorite
player (or your car or home stereo, see supported devices) just like you would an MP3 file.

Went back to the couch around 3 and grabbed another hour of sleep. Woke up @ 4 and promptly started making the boy and me some goetta with eggs for breakfast this morning. The girl gets tired of repetition. Lunches are already packed since I have to let the neighbors dog out to do his business and give him a treat. Busy freakin' morning already. Turkey's government, under Islamist leadership, has developed a remarkable but obscure tactic to make inroads into the United States.

Recently, Native American Congressman Tom Cole (R-OK, member of the Chickasaw Nation) introduced H.R. 2362, the Indian Trade and Investment Demonstration Project.
The bill singles out Turkish-owned companies for exclusive investment preferences and special rights in Native American tribal area projects.

Congressman Cole freely admitted the following on the House floor:

There's no question that I was approached by the Turkish American Coalition [properly the Turkish Coalition of America], who have a deep interest in Turkey and American Indians.

"Deep interest" indeed. The bill was the culmination of a curious multi-year effort by Turkey to ingratiate itself with Native American tribes:

    tribal students now study in Turkey with full scholarships;
Turkish high officials regularly appear at Native American economic summits; and dozens of tribal leaders have gone to Turkey on lavish all-expense paid trips.

Rand’s impact has been widespread and deep. At the iceberg’s visible tip is the influence she’s had over major political figures who have shaped American society.

In the 1950s, Ayn Rand read aloud drafts of
what was later to become Atlas Shrugged to her “Collective,” Rand’s ironic nickname for her inner circle of young individualists, which included Alan Greenspan, who would serve as chairman of the Federal Reserve Board from 1987 to 2006.

In 1966, Ronald Reagan wrote in a personal letter, “Am an admirer of Ayn Rand.” Today, Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) credits Rand for inspiring him to go into politics, and Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) calls Atlas Shrugged his “foundation book.”

Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) says Ayn Rand had a major
influence on him, and his son Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) is an even bigger fan.

A short list of other Rand fans includes Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas; Christopher Cox, chairman of the Security and Exchange Commission in George W. Bush’s second administration; and former South
    Carolina governor Mark Sanford.

But Rand’s impact on U.S. society and culture goes even deeper.

CBS News correspondent Lara Logan is making big news by accusing the Obama Administration of lying about progress in the war on terrorism. She also urged the administration to avenge the murders of four Americans in Libya, and declared that Islamist terrorists want to destroy the West and the American way of life.
An FBI investigation is not the best way to handle the murders in Libya, she said. "I hope to God that you're sending in your best clandestine warriors to exact revenge and let the world know that the United States will not be attacked on its own soil, that its ambassadors will not be murdered and the United States will not stand by and do nothing about it."
It appeared to some commentators that she was arguing for a stronger U.S. military response, which was certainly true in the case of the murdered Americans in Libya, but it is also clear that she sees Pakistan, an Islamic state with nuclear weapons, as one of the main problems facing the U.S. and the region that few political leaders want to address. Pakistan is considered by many politicians, Democrats and Republicans, to be a U.S. ally, and it receives billions of dollars in foreign aid.
In a sensational charge, Logan said that "Pakistani lobbying money" was behind the "narrative" that the U.S. can withdraw from the region and even negotiate a peaceful solution with the Taliban and al-Qaeda in Afghanistan. She implied that U.S. policymakers were being bribed to have the U.S. leave the region under circumstances that would only benefit Islamist forces who seek a world-wide Islamic state, or "caliphate."

Its a tea made of about a teaspoon of goldenseal powder, a pinch of boric acid and a couple teaspoons of witchhazel in a cup of boiling water. This actually works on bacterial infections of the eye very very well...Put it in the eye when it cools down enough as eyedrops whenever you think of it during the day. It usually works in one day or two. Keep in the fridge when not in use.
