The Girl With The Mousy Hair

They asked her, “Woman, why are you crying?”
“They have taken my Lord away,” she said,
“and I don’t know where they have put him.”
John 20

It's a god-awful small affair
To the girl with the mousy hair
But her mummy is yelling "No"
And her daddy has told her to go
But her friend is nowhere to be seen
Now she walks
through her sunken dream
To the seat with the clearest view
And she's hooked to the silver screen
But the film is a saddening bore
For she's lived it
ten times or more
She could spit in the eyes of fools
As they ask her to focus on
Sailors fighting in the dance hall
Oh man!
Look at those cavemen go
It's the freakiest show
Take a look at the Lawman
Beating up the wrong guy
Oh man! Wonder if he'll ever know
He's in the best selling show
Is there life on Mars?

It's on Amerika's tortured brow
That Mickey Mouse
has grown up a cow
Now the workers
have struck for fame
'Cause Lennon's on sale again
See the mice in their million hordes
From Ibeza to the Norfolk Broads
Rule Britannia is out of bounds
To my mother, my dog, and clowns
But the film is a saddening bore
'Cause I wrote it
ten times or more
It's about to be writ again
As I ask you to focus on ...

    Momus -
    "See A Friend In Tears"

[ from the album "Circus Maximus" (1986) ]

    Lyrics

So men are still at war in Ireland

For certain songs and certain dates

The tender gave way to the firebrand

And Europe gave way to the States

So now that money's all but scentless

    Noses and consciences are clear

The pointless flowers can be dispensed with

But see a friend in tears

So our defeats are just reminders

Of death that waits behind it all

The body wilts before the mind does

Surprised to see how soon it falls

It's true our women have deceived us

    All hunted species disappear

It's true we've shot the golden eagles

But see a friend in tears

It's true our cities are exhausted

Made by and for the middle aged

Our weakness gave them more than force did

We thought that love could cure a toothache

And in the underground we're drowning

    Accelerating through the years

You who think you'll find the truth by frowning

    See a friend in tears

It's true our mirrors don't show heroes

We lack the courage to be Jews

    Without the elegance of Negroes

With our youthful fireworks all defused

And all these men who are our brothers

Wonder why we don't want to hear

How their worst enemies are their lovers

    See a friend in tears

I think the US would like to see the appearance of the military backing

of what one thinks of the Muslim Brotherhood, and there are segments of
that aligned with the US, their opposition in power right now rests on

Muslim Brothers in UAE going 'bankrupt' as their base in Egypt becomes weaker

Yesterday's edition of the Abu Dhabi-based newspaper Al Ittihad
featured three opinion articles about the Muslim Brotherhood. Two of
them suggested that the Brothers's model and rhetoric have gone
"bankrupt" in the UAE and Egypt.

"In less than two years, the Muslim Brothers in the UAE have lost
everything they had managed to accrue - secretly or in the open - over a
period of 30 years," wrote Mohammed Al Hammadi, an Emirati journalist.
The Brothers in the UAE have only themselves to blame for having lost
all their earlier gains, he wrote.

'US-backed Libyan militias are turning on each other'

Washington continues to support militant Islamist groups as long as
it’s politically expedient to do so, says global affairs researcher
    Benjamin Schett.

US military adventurism, and the war crimes committed by the
country's forces, impoverish the entire region and ultimately lead to a
rise in the number of Islamic militant groups, he told RT. Such groups,
he says, can end up posing a threat to US citizens.
Schett spoke to RT about the killing of American Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other embassy staff in Libya.

    ReplyDelete

obviously the US never stopped supporting militant Islamist groups as long as it’s in their geopolitical interests.

It shows that Libya is part of a broader organization
of the Middle East and South and Central Asia, which is a direct result
of US policies. We saw what happened in Afghanistan and Iraq after the
US invasion – the clashes between Sunnis and Shias. We see what’s
happening now in Syria, where the sectarian violence is being supported
from the outside – from the Gulf states, from the US, and from France.
And it’s what’s happening in Libya – all these different militias that
received support in order to fight against Gaddafi are now turning
against each other and are pushing for a tribalization of Libya.

The US official propaganda has a very cynical term regarding civilian
deaths during a bombing campaign, called “collateral damage.” Of course,
they wouldn’t use this term when it comes to the death of a US citizen.
But I think in the mindset of the US establishment, in a certain way
this also was collateral damage because it won’t make them stop their
policies in the Middle East, even if it threatens the lives of American
    citizens.

And this is where we get to the hypocrisy at the heart of Mitt Romney.
Everyone knows that he is fantastically rich, having scored great
success, the legend goes, as a "turnaround specialist," a shrewd
financial operator who revived moribund companies as a high-priced
consultant for a storied Wall Street private equity firm.

    But what most
voters don't know is the way Mitt Romney actually made his
fortune: by borrowing vast sums of money that other people were forced
    to pay back.

This is the plain, stark reality that has somehow eluded
America's top political journalists for two consecutive presidential
campaigns: Mitt Romney is one of the greatest and most irresponsible
    debt creators of all time.

In the past few decades, in fact, Romney has
piled more debt onto more unsuspecting companies, written more gigantic
checks that other people have to cover, than perhaps all but a handful
    of people on planet Earth.

If you knew nothing of what had happened in the
global economy over the past five years you would have found Christine
Lagarde's opening press conference at the World Bank and IMF meetings in
Tokyo on Thursday morning distinctly peculiar.

Why? Because she was saying some quite scary things
about the outlook for the world, but she didn't sound like she wanted
to raise the alarm. She sounded like it was pretty much business as
    usual.

A good example was financial sector reform, which came top of
her list of policy priorities for governments. She said: "if you ask...
supervisors around the world whether the financial sector is safer than
it was five years ago, many will say: 'no, not yet'. And we tend to
    concur with that."

When you think about it, that's quite alarming. After all,
five years ago the financial sector turned out to be less safe than it
has been since at least the 1920s, maybe ever.

What is the truth about the horrific attack in Benghazi on September 11th, 2012 that killed our ambassador to Libya and three others? And why has it been so hard to get that truth out of the Obama administration?
We now know that these murders were not the result of some spontaneous demonstration run amok in response to a video critical of Islam's founder, Mohammed. Rather, they were the result of a carefully planned and well-executed military operation conducted by jihadists associated with al Qaeda.
It turns out the Obama administration knew at least the broad outlines of that reality within hours of the attack.
So why did assorted administration officials tell us otherwise for days afterwards? For example, long after there was reason to believe a jihadist military attack killed the four Americans in Benghazi, UN Ambassador Susan Rice, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and the President himself insisted that it was just unpremeditated, disorganized violence which was precipitated by an amateur filmmaker in California.
Fortunately, that preposterous party line has now become untenable, thanks to a series of statements - both on and off the record - by counterterrorism and intelligence officials and congressional sources disputing Team Obama's original, dissembling accounts.
The administration is clearly furious that it is being exposed in the run-up to the President's reelection as having deliberately and knowingly disinformed the American people, so it is now trying to shunt the blame onto the intelligence community.

Looking slightly restless, a small group of young women stood in the shade of a white-stone Bay Ridge mosque with large arched windows. They were fidgeting with their pens or flipping through the forms in their clipboards as they waited for the end of the Friday noon prayer, a weekly occasion that brings together a mass of Arab and Muslim immigrants in this Brooklyn neighborhood.

In a matter of brisk minutes, men flocked out of the mosque exchanging niceties or rushing to meet their families for lunch. Outside the mosque, the women, most of whom wore colorful headscarves and fashionable accessories, pulled themselves together and swiftly intercepted them with a question: “Excuse me, are you a registered voter?” http://english.alarabiya.net/articles/2012/10/11/243130.html

With carefully crafted arguments and enthusiastic tones, the young women then start arguing with these older men about the importance for the Arab and Muslim community to emerge from political lethargy at a time of sharp disagreements over U.S. foreign policy towards Iraq, Palestine, Libya and other Arab countries.

“I tell people, ‘politicians want our votes. If we’re not voters they will not care for us.’ We need to be a Muslim vote, a swing vote, to be able to start changing things,” said Aber Kawas, 21, a Palestinian-American political activist studying International Studies at the City University of New York and leading the group of volunteer canvassers. http://english.alarabiya.net/articles/2012/10/11/243130.html

But the revelation of US military personnel so close to the 19-month-old Syrian conflict suggests an escalation in the US military involvement in the conflict, even as Washington pushes back on any suggestion of a direct intervention in Syria. It also follows several days of shelling between Turkey and Syria, an indication that the civil war could spill across Syria's borders and become a regional conflict. The development comes with the US presidential election less than a month away, and at a time when Pres. Obama's foreign policy is under fire. http://www.newmediajournal.us/

    Game on!

    Finally.

After more than decade of dominance by Toyota, Ford has become the first U.S.
automaker to try to take on the Prius in the high-mileage hybrid game. Its 2013
C-Max Hybrid is now hitting showrooms with an EPA rating of 47 mpg city, 47 mpg
highway and, shockingly, 47 mpg combined.

The Focus-based crossover comes courtesy of the Ford’s European lineup, where
it has been offered for several years with conventional gas and diesel
powertrains. But don’t go shopping for any of them here. The C-Max will only be
available in the U.S. as a hybrid in an effort to try and create a new green
    brand name for Ford.

(To those who think the Chevy Volt is a Prius competitor, remember, its was
developed to leapfrog it, not go head-to-head.)

    Why you want one:

    It’s not a Prius.

On the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on New York and Washington DC, our consulate in Benghazi was sacked, and four Americans murdered, including our Ambassador, J. Christopher Stevens. The Obama administration considered that just a coincidence in its public statements on the attack for several days, insisting that the attack was a “spontaneous demonstration” that just “spun out of control.” Later, we discovered that there was no protest at the time, and the Obama administration had designated this a terrorist attack within the first 24 hours.
Tomorrow, as the Boss Emeritus points out, is the 12th anniversary of the bombing of the USS Cole in Aden, Yemen. Is this just another coincidence, too?
Masked gunmen shot dead a Yemeni man on his way to work at the U.S. embassy in Sanaa on Thursday, a security source said, the latest in a wave of assassinations in the Arab state where Washington is battling al Qaeda militants. The attackers on a motorcycle opened fire on a car carrying Qassem Aqlan – who headed an embassy security team – in the center of Yemen’s capital, the source told Reuters.“This (assassination) operation has the fingerprints of al Qaeda which carried out similar operations before,” said the source who asked not to be named.
Are they sure? Perhaps this is just another spontaneous movie review, only with lighter weapons. http://hotair.com/archives/2012/10/11/american-embassy-security-leader-assassinated-in-yemen/

The case involves a police response to a 911 phone call last
November. Police responded to a request for medical assistance for
Sheeley, who was suffering a seizure at his home in Austin.

    When
officers Chard Norman and Kevin Sederquest arrived at the man’s house,
they allegedly used violence to restrict him from movement, constrained
his ability to breathe and repeatedly shocked him with a Taser gun.

    The
officers controlled the man by “pushing a knee on his back while he was
in handcuffs, causing his head to be pressed against the back cushion
of the chair, all while he was still convulsing,” the brother of the
victim, Dustin Sheeley wrote in a complaint against the state.

    Police
continued to Taser the man, even after the brother told them not to,
and even after the convulsing man was handcuffed. The 50-year-old was
left with wounds on his shoulder, back and under his left armpit.

  146. Stunner: Turkey Infiltrating Native American Tribes – and May Get Congressional Help

Turkey's government, under Islamist leadership, has developed a remarkable but obscure tactic to make inroads into the United States.

Recently, Native American Congressman Tom Cole (R-OK, member of the Chickasaw Nation) introduced H.R. 2362, the Indian Trade and Investment Demonstration Project. The bill singles out Turkish-owned companies for exclusive investment preferences and special rights in Native American tribal area projects.

Congressman Cole freely admitted the following on the House floor:

There's no question that I was approached by the Turkish American Coalition [properly the Turkish Coalition of America], who have a deep interest in Turkey and American Indians.

"Deep interest" indeed. The bill was the culmination of a curious multi-year effort by Turkey to ingratiate itself with Native American tribes: tribal students now study in Turkey with full scholarships; Turkish high officials regularly appear at Native American economic summits; and dozens of tribal leaders have gone to Turkey on lavish all-expense paid trips.

COLUMBUS, Ga. – Basil L. Plumley, a renowned
career soldier whose exploits as an Army infantryman were portrayed in a book
and the movie "We Were Soldiers," has died at 92 -- an age his friends are
amazed that he lived to see.

Plumley fought in World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam and was awarded a
medal for making five parachute jumps into combat. The retired command sergeant
    major died Wednesday.

Friends said Plumley, who died in hospice care in west Georgia, never told
war stories and was known to hang up on people who called to interview him.
Still, he was near-legendary in the Army and gained more widespread fame through
a 1992 Vietnam War book that was the basis for the 2002 movie starring Mel
Gibson. Actor Sam Elliott played Plumley in the film.

Plumley didn't need a Hollywood portrayal to be revered among soldiers, said
Greg Camp, a retired Army colonel and former chief of staff at neighboring Fort
Benning who befriended Plumley in his later years.

"He's iconic in military circles," Camp said. "Among people who have been in
the military, he's beyond what a movie star would be. ... His legend permeates
    three generations of soldiers."
