Amman- Jordan's King Abdullah II conferred on Tuesday with the envoy of the Middle East Quartet Tony Blair, urging intensive efforts to re-launch 'serious' peace negotiations, according to a royal court statement. 'The discussions tackled efforts under way to re-launch serious negotiations to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict on the basis of the two-state vision,' the statement said. He called for intensifying world efforts to ensure the resumption of the peace process and said that the two-state solution represented 'the real door to the establishment of peace and the consolidation of security and stability in the region.' The Quartet comprises the United States, the European Union, Russia and the United Nations.Peres in Jordan: Israel ready to renew negotiations immediately

Arab League chief: Israeli nuclear arsenal - the region's ”real danger”
Israel's nuclear arsenal constitutes "the real danger" in the Middle East and not Iran's nuclear plan, Arab League chief Amr Musa stressed on Sunday. "The real danger as far as nuclear military programmes are concerned is posed by Israel and not Iran," Musa told a panel discussing the future of the region's peacemaking at the World Economic Forum in Jordan.Did Blair & Peres get up and walk out?

Iran needs 200 billion dollars investments for oil and gas projects
Iranian First Vice President Parviz Davoudi has said that his country will need investments amounting to 200 billion dollars in its oil and gas sectors over the next five years, while total investments in the coming decade will total 500 billion dollars.
Speaking to a group of businessmen in Tanzania, Davoudi said that Iran’s political and economic stability has turned the country into an ideal destination for foreign investors.
He stressed that Iran is one of the most stable countries in the Middle East.
The Iranian Vice-President has recently focused his attention to attracting foreign investments in Iran’s oil and gas industries in visits to a number of countries including China.
Speaking in China’s Hainan Province, Davoudi said that improving energy cooperation with China was one of Iran’s priorities, adding that the country’s huge oil and gas reserves would create great investment opportunities for Chinese firms.
The Second and Third Vice Presidents could not be reached for comment.

BlackRock, a Little-Known Firm, Becomes a Titan
Goldman Sachs forecasts big increase in heating oil prices
“They have access to information when the Federal Reserve will try to sell securities, and what price they will accept. And they have intricate financial relations with people across the globe,” Senator Charles E. Grassley, Republican of Iowa, said. “The potential for a conflict of interest is great and it is just very difficult to police.”
Without naming BlackRock, federal auditors have warned that any private parties that purchase distressed assets on the government’s behalf could use generous federal subsidies to overpay, artificially pushing up the price of similar assets that they manage for their own portfolios.“In other words, the conflict results in an enormous profit for the fund manager at the expense of the taxpayer,” Neil M. Barofsky, the special inspector general for the Troubled Asset Relief Program, wrote in a report last month.

Their headline, not mine:
The Defense Department has announced a three-member task force will conduct a review of the National Security Personnel System, the controversial Bush-era pay-for-performance program that has been frozen by the Obama administration.
The panel will make recommendations to the Defense Business Board this summer, to be followed by a report to Defense in the fall.
Rudy deLeon, who was deputy secretary of Defense during the Clinton administration, will head the task force. He is now a senior vice president at the Center for American Progress, a Washington-based think tank headed by John Podesta, who was co-chair of the Obama transition team.

Obama Would Sign Credit-Card Bill With Gun Amendment

The Senate passed the credit-card measure yesterday. The House of Representatives has begun debating the measure and is scheduled to hold a final vote today.
Obama’s acceptance of the gun amendment removes an obstacle to the credit-card legislation becoming law.
Unholy Idolatry, Batman. Start smashing.
Capitalism successfully reduces human life to an art of accumulation, and no where is the art so perfected as in the United States. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. ~ Ephesians 6
But even in that paradise for economic exercise where consumption is king and hypersensitized to credit, the sudden economic slowdown makes some wonder what's wrong with the economics.
"Animal Spirits: How Human Psychology Drives the Economy, and Why It Matters for Global Capitalism" by George A. Akerlof and Robert J. Shiller attempts to explain some of the inherent flaws in standard economic principles from the perspective of psychology.
John Maynard Keynes said long-term rational calculation could not account for such economic decisions as opening a mine, building a factory or constructing an office building.
Such decisions "can only be taken as a result of animal spirits."

The phasing of a presidential press service statement hinted that the pair had been removed due to incompetence.
Energy development and exports generate an estimate 70 percent of government revenue in Turkmenistan. The presidential decree on the firings of Durdiev and Tadjiev made no mention of successors in either post.
