The disturbing and bizarre practices of Islam are hardly reported in the Western press. The Western Media, using equivocation, purposeful omission, and harboring an unvoiced premise that all cultures are superior to white, Western civilization readily ignores the antics of Muslims behaving as themselves. One of the areas routinely passed over is the sexual depravity of Islam. To cite one recent example:

PAKISTAN: GIRLS KIDNAPPED, ALLEGEDLY FORCED TO CONVERT

"ISTANBUL, July 11 (Compass Direct News) – A Christian father in Pakistan is in a legal battle with kidnappers for the custody of his pre-teen daughters, who allegedly have been forced to convert to Islam.

Yesterday a judge in Pakistan’s Punjab province ordered further investigation into the kidnapping of Saba Younis, 12, and Aneela Younis, 10, who went missing on June 26 in the small town of Chowk Munda. The kidnappers filed for custody of the girls at the local police house on June 28, stating that the sisters had converted to Islam and their father no longer had jurisdiction over them.

When the father of the two girls, Younis Masih, was summoned to the police house to testify, police initially refused to file a case against the kidnappers – Muhammed Arif, Abjad Ali, taxi driver Muhammed Asraf and an unidentified fourth man – who are known to belong to a powerful human trafficking ring. Instead, human rights activists told Compass, Masih was told to “remain silent,” as the officers said the girls had embraced Islam in a written statement. "

The kidnapping, marriage and rape of Christian girls is all to come in Islamic countries. The girls are often sold to their new husbands. Sometimes they are picked out. In the vast majority of cases the authorities refuse to act because they agree with the underlying philosophy of wiping out Christianity by forced conversion.

“I’m trying to contact the District Police Officer about the registration of the criminal case,” said Tahir. “They have not yet registered the case. It is the duty of the DPO to register the case, but he’s failing to perform his duty, so I’m trying to contact him or else I’ll take it to the high court.”

Pakistan is by no means alone in this horrendous practice. It is equally common in Egypt and The Sudan. Unlike Pakistan and The Sudan, where Sharia Law reigns and hence the kidnapping and rape of Christians is no crime, Egypt theoretically has laws that protect all citizens. But not in practice. And just as it recently legalized Female Genital Mutilation, it has also started to embrace other bizarre and cruel Islamic practices.

Egypt has made a business out of kidnapping Coptic Christian girls. If a boy in school sees an attractive girl he decides should be one of his wives, he has a gang kidnap her for a fee. The gangs operate with impunity secure in the knowledge that the government tacitly approves., and often performing the service for government officials. The girl is beaten, drugged, starved, and tortured into conversion. The happy nuptial is then taken to the room in which she is held. He rapes the girl repeatedly to consummate the " marriage". There is every intention to impregnate the girl, no matter her age. The girl is then held in the family home as a prisoner for months, with the women of the home, particularly the boy's mother assisting in the subjugation. Many are never seen again by their families. An idiosyncrasy of law and custom work to ensure compliance. Legally a Christian cannot be guardian over a Muslim, so the kidnappers raise the defense that the girl's family has no say in her whereabouts. The authorities then are stymied and refuse to accept the complaint of the victim's family. As for custom, Coptics, like Muslims, put great emphasis on the virginity of a bride. Indeed, some Coptics even practice the Egyptian Muslim form of Female Genitali Mutilation which results in the vagina being sewed closed, the most sever form. This forces some girls into submissiveness because of shame. And they have no idea that their families are anxiously searching for them.

"Christian university professor in Gaza was kidnapped, forced to marry a Muslim professor at the same university and now her family is being told she wants no contact with them unless they convert to Islam.

Sana al-Sayegh, head of the Science and Technology Department at Gaza City's Palestine International University, disappeared June 24, according to Palestinian Authority officials and the woman's family. Five days later, she contacted her family to say she was being held against her will so she could be married to a Muslim man."
"Returning to Christianity is a crime worthy of death in many Muslim societies. The kidnapping, rape, "marriage" and "conversion" of Christian girls and women is a common occurrence in some predominantly Muslim countries."
So much for the authorities.

The Western mind has difficulty even understanding the lack of love between spouses in Islamic marriages. The degree of misogyny is beyond the comprehension of many in the West. Beyond extreme, it manifests itself to such a degree the Western Press for the most part assumes that common practice must be anomolous. It is not. It is the norm.

I don’t hide. I never have. I stay at home because I like to stay at home, and at home I work. I have not appeared in public for at least ten years. No interviews, no TV.

Why am I here, then? Because, since September 11, we are at war. Because the front line of that war is here, in America. Because when I was a war correspondent, I liked to be on the front line. And this time, in this war, I do not feel as a war correspondent. I feel as a soldier. The duty of a soldier is to fight. And to fight this war, I deploy a personal weapon. It is not a gun. It’s a small book, The Rage and The Pride.

My soldier weapon is the weapon of truth. The truth that begins with the truth I maintain in these pages:

From Afghanistan to Sudan, from Palestine to Pakistan, from Malaysia to Iran, from Egypt to Iraq, from Algeria to Senegal, from Syria to Kenya, from Libya to Chad, from Lebanon to Morocco, from Indonesia to Yemen, from Saudi Arabia to Somalia, the hate for the West swells like a fire fed by the wind. And the followers of Islamic fundamentalism multiply like a protozoa of a cell which splits to become two cells then four then eight then sixteen then thirty-two to infinity. Those who are not aware of it only have to look at the images that the TV brings us every day. The multitudes that impregnate the streets of Islamabad, the squares of Nairobi, the mosques of Tehran. The ferocious faces, the threatening fists. The fires that burn the American flag and the photos of Bush.

“The clash between us and them is not a military clash. Oh, no. It is a cultural one, a religious one. And our military victories do not solve the offensive of Islamic terrorism. On the contrary, they encourage it. They exacerbate it, they multiply it. The worst is still to come.”

President Bush has said, “We refuse to live in fear.”

Beautiful sentence, very beautiful. I loved it! But inexact, Mr. President, because the West does live in fear. People are afraid to speak against the Islamic world. Afraid to offend, and to be punished for offending, the sons of Allah. You can insult the Christians, the Buddhists, the Hindus, the Jews. You can slander the Catholics, you can spit on the Madonna and Jesus Christ. But, woe betide the citizen who pronounces a word against the Islamic religion.

My small book is not tender with Islam. In certain passages, it is even ferocious. But it is much more ferocious with us: with us Italians, us Europeans, us Americans.

I call my book a sermon—addressed to the Italians, to the Europeans, the Westerners. And along with the rage, this sermon unchains the pride for their culture, my culture. That culture that in spite of its mistakes, its faults, even monstrosities, has given so much to the world. It has moved us from the tents of the deserts and the huts of the woods to the dignity of civilization. It has given us the concept of beauty, of morals, of freedom, of equality. It has made the unique conquest in the social field, in the realm of science. It has wiped out diseases. It has invented all the tools that make life easier and more intelligent, those tools that our enemy can also use, for instance, to kill us. It has brought us to the moon and to Mars, and this cannot be said of the other culture. A culture, which has produced and produces only religion, which in every sense imprisons women inside the burkah or the chador, which is never accompanied by a drop of freedom, a drop of democracy, which subjugates its people under theocratical, oppressive regimes.

Socrates and Aristotle and Heraclitus were not mullahs. Jesus Christ, neither. Leonardo da Vinci and Michaelangelo, and Galileo, and Copernicus, and Newton and Pasteur and Einstein, the same.

My book is also a j’accuse. To accuse us of cowardice, hypocrisy, demagogy, laziness, moral misery, and of all that comes with that. The stupidity of the unbearable fad of political correctness, for instance. The paucity of our schools, our universities, our young people, people who often don’t even know the story of their country, the names Jefferson, Franklin, Robespierre, Napoleon, Garibaldi. And no understanding that freedom cannot exist without discipline, self-discipline.

I accuse ourselves also of another crime: the loss of passion. Haven’t you understood what drives our enemies? What permits them to fight this war against us? The passion! They have passion! They have so much passion that they can die for it!

Their leaders, too, of course. I met Khomeini. I discussed with him for more than six hours in calm, and I tell you that that man was a man of passion. I never met bin Laden. But I have well observed his eyes. I have well listened to his voice. And I tell you that that man is a man of passion. We have lost passion.

Well, I have not. I boil with passion. I, too, am ready to die for passion. But around me, I see no passion. Even those who hate me and attack me and insult me do this without passion. They are mollusks, not men and women. And a civilization, a culture, cannot survive without passion, cannot be saved without passion. If the West does not wake up, if we do not refind passion, we are lost.

To quote from my book:

“The problem is that the solution does not depend upon the death of Osama bin Laden. Because the Osama bin Ladens are too many, by now: as cloned as the sheep of our research laboratories…. In fact, the best trained and the more intelligent do not stay in the Muslim countries... They stay in our own countries, in our cities, our universities, our business companies. They have excellent bonds with our churches, our banks, our televisions, our radios, our newspapers, our publishers, our academic organizations, our unions, our political parties…. Worse, they live in the heart of a society that hosts them without questioning their differences, with- out checking their bad intentions, without penalizing their sullen fanaticism.

The British decided to attack Neuve Chapelle in March of 1915 to prevent the movement of German troops to the east.

Apparently when the church was blown up, the Christ was left standing. When he finally fell, the men carried him into the trenches with them.
The Germans were surprised, outnumbered, outflanked on both sides, and, after a stubborn struggle, they were ousted from the position.
Later the Portuguese soldiers took Trench Christ into their positions with them. The figure is now in Portugal commemorating Portugal's Unknown Soldier.

I think the volatility to the mortgage market will start to subside.

"WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- The implicit government guarantee of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac is now explicit. In a dramatic statement released Sunday, the White House and Federal Reserve moved to give the mortgage giants the capital they need to survive the depression in the housing market and turmoil in financial markets that had left them dangling over a cliff. Of most immediate importance, the Fed's board of governors voted to open up its emergency discount window to Fannie and Freddie. In addition, Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson announced that he will seek congressional authorization to buy stock in the two companies and increase the government's credit line."

The bottom line is that the U.S. Government is not going to stand by and watch Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac go bust. While this will not make the bad mortgages go away, there will be plenty of liquidity provided to support these entities while they go through the loan workout process and deal with all this.

To put things in a bit of a perspective, the number was quoted the other day that 1 in every 501 mortgages is in default these days. That is a default rate of 0.2%, or two tenths of one percent.

A Jewish artist haunted by the face of Jesus.

Last month I gave a talk on Marc Chagall in Seattle. A large part of what I had to say was devoted to the artist's ambivalence about his Jewishness and his obsession with the image of Jesus. Afterward, a few members of the audience approached me. The topic of Chagall usually elicits a strong Jewish response--reproductions of his works are ubiquitous in Jewish homes, images that seem to evoke shtetl life. But these people were members of an unusual local Christian congregation who referred to Jesus as Yeshua and who blew the shofar whenever a new family joined their church. They gave me an illustration that merged Jewish and Christian iconography. An explanation on the back presented some surprising symbology. The Torah scrolls were said to represent Jesus.

Chagall (1887-1985), with his own mixing and merging, clearly held a special interest for the group, as indeed they might have had for him. After all, the emblematic Jewish painter of the 20th century had insisted that the museum built to house his paintings in Nice, France, be called The National Museum of the Marc Chagall Biblical Message: not exactly an art gallery or a house of worship but a place committed to a universalist and utopian religious philosophy and aesthetic, and one designed to transcend the borders of any particular religion.

While President Bush Talked Tough, Trade with Iran Skyrocketed

An analysis by the Associated Press shows that while President Bush talked tough and called for sanctions against Iran during his term in office, U.S. exports to Iran are now ten times greater than they were prior to his presidency. According to the report, a wide range of goods was shipped to Iran, topped by $158 million worth of cigarettes. Military equipment was also supplied to the Iranians. Not only was a variety of items traded, but many individual states traded directly with Iran. The AP reports that during the Bush years, very few requests for permission to trade with Iran were denied: fewer than 200 compared to more than 3,000 approvals.
