    What a waste of food.................

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -- A Wichita man was arrested early Friday morning for throwing a cheeseburger at his wife and then allegedly punching her mother in the face.

According to police, the 26-year-old suspect got into an argument with his 23-year-old wife. As the argument escalated, the man reportedly threw a cheeseburger which struck his wife in the face. He then allegedly punched his 44-year-old mother-in-law in the face.

Police arrived on the scene and arrested the man for domestic violence. Neither mother nor daughter was seriously injured.

Iran's servants, an armed ethnic party and a faction parallel to al-Qaeda were only some of the labels applied over the weekend to Hezbollah in the Arab media, days after its participation in the battle for the Syrian strategic town of Qusair, which tipped the scales in favor of the forces supporting President Bashar Assad's regime. http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-4389767,00.html

Naveena Shine is a 65-year-old Seattle woman who is undertaking a very extreme mission: living on sunlight and air. It’s the foundation of an experiment, Living on Light, which she began documenting on May 3, via her YouTube page. The gist: She will abstain from food, for as long as she can thrive, subsisting on light, and some water. During the summer. In the Pacific Northwest.

    Great article!

Songwriter Billy Swan was in the final days of the engineer’s assistant job that he would soon give to Kristofferson during those sessions. He admits that he had only haphazardly followed Dylan’s career up to that point, but in between his gofer tasks, he began to see the light. “What was coming back from those speakers was so fucking good: his singing, his performing. That whole album is fantastic.”

Billy Swan had a #1 pop and country record in 1974.. never plays on the radio any more but it was playing in my head just the other day...

  80. BulgarWheat6:08 AM

I smoked my alcohol before we left for supper last night,...meaning no beers There's a local brewery and rib joint in Babba's favorite town, Fuquay-Varina. At least half of the couples were squabbling last night night. We had supper way too late and lately it just seems that everyone's nerves are just about frayed. Lots of tension, when people should have been going home to make one anothers toes curl up. I think my little town is a microcosm of our country as a whole, and most people are on the verge of losing it across the board. I know this sounds crazy coming from me, but I'm happy that a lot of people who were losing it last night have no business with or around firearms while they're in that state. Presently, they're in no shape to be around firearms but are only a danger to others and themselves.

Yep! That sounds absolutely crazy coming from me, but when people have the fear, they are as dangerous and irrational as a cornered animal. Or as Hunter S. Thompson used to call it, THE FEAR.

In the last three months, going on four months now, I've been living through my own private hell. It's like being in the ocean and being relentlessly hit by huge wave after wave,...and no time to gather my breath. I recognized that all of this was so much larger than anything I could handle on my own. I'm as stiff necked and stubborn as anyone, but I recognized that I was going to have to surrender to the circumstances and simply trust in GOD. And I did. While I'm still treading water now, at least I can catch my breath in between the crashing waves. Sometimes that is all we can ask for in life. I not am trying to do everything myself but have placed my trust in GOD at HIS feet. It is very comforting to come to the realization that I am not alone and HE is watching over me in my time of need. It has brought me some peace.

So last night, I spent a lot of time shuttling people back to their respective homes because couples were fussing and fighting with each other. I think they were waiting for me to share some sort of wisdom or sage advice with them during the ride home, but I just held my tongue and let each of them do all of the talking. A regular shrink in a pickup truck without a scrip pad. When I had something to say, it usually was a question they needed to ask themselves and I made it known their answer was for themselves and frankly none of my business. I was just a sounding board.

It was a strange evening to say the least. I'll have to get my sister in law to the airport shortly. I guess if I hurry up, I have time to grab a shave and shower. Before then though I need another cup of coffee. Those strange nights end late around this joint.

UPDATE: Suspect had 1,300 rounds of ammunition during Santa Monica attack...

they say 1,300 rounds like they think it's a lot. Me and tater have shot up more ammo than that on a few outings to the range before, mostly tater though. That lad loves shooting him some targets. Punching paper can be fun.

Now ammo is too damned expensive. $34.95 used to buy 100 rounds of Federal .223/55gr. I was getting 1,000 rounds of .223/55gr. for $330 delivered to my front door a little more than a year ago. Now it's about $250 for 250 rounds. It's crazy. Now matter how expensive it gets, I won't feed it that cheap assed russian crap.

I think it would be very, very good for the Turkish prime minister to visit Gaza and I admire him for doing so, but it won’t help peace, because nothing will help peace until the Israelis are made to understand that their persecution and suppression and oppression and repression of the Palestinian people will have to end one dayhttp://www.todayszaman.com/news-317755-sir-kaufman-nothing-except-barack-obama-can-contribute-to-peace-between-israel-and-palestine.html

Paging Ari Fleischer.. didn't you get the memo dammit??

When Glenn Greenwald and The Guardian broke its initial story on the NSA's secret vacuuming of Americans' phone data, George W. Bush's former press secretary, Ari Fleischer, had this response:

Drone strikes. Wiretaps. Gitmo. [Obama] is carrying out Bush's 4th term. Yet he attacked Bush for violating the Constitution.

And when news surfaced that the NSA's reach had infiltrated nearly every major internet company's servers, including Google, Facebook and Microsoft, Fleischer said to Anderson Cooper:

"I'm proud as a Republican to be backing what President Obama has done."

Those looking to cut out a few calories might choose to eliminate alcohol from their diet. But a Texas man is saying he was able to lose 80 pounds — keep it off — and enjoy the effects of alcohol.

Broderic Allen ”smokes” alcohol instead of ingesting it, a practice which doctors say is very bad for one’s health, WFAA-TV reported. To do this, the alcohol is mixed with dry ice and the vapors are inhaled

But it keeps the people in darkness. Erdogan lets his soldiers, the Turkish police, torture the people. So many men, teenagers, and even women have been beaten by the police. In Turkish, we call it işkence.

    Işkence (pronounced "ishkanjya") means torture.

"Do you think the protests will make him stop?" I asked.

"I don't know. I would still be in jail if my wife wasn't American. Erdogan fears that American passport. He wants to look good to his friend Obama. Since he came back from Africa, he has been making big speeches to his Islamist followers. He imprisoned the top army officers who followed Ataturk. I don't think Erdogan will back down. Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) told Roland Martin in a February interview,........

“The President has put in place an organization with the kind of database that no one has ever seen before in life,” Representative Maxine Waters told Roland Martin on Monday.

“That’s going to be very, very powerful,” Waters said. “That database will have information about everything on every individual on ways that it’s never been done before and whoever runs for President on the Democratic ticket has to deal with that. They’re going to go down with that database and the concerns of those people because they can’t get around it. And he’s [President Obama] been very smart. It’s very powerful what he’s leaving in place.”

The individual responsible for one of the most significant leaks in US political history is Edward Snowden, a 29-year-old former technical assistant for the CIA and current employee of the defence contractor Booz Allen Hamilton. Snowden has been working at the National Security Agency for the last four years as an employee of various outside contractors, including Booz Allen and Dell.

The Guardian, after several days of interviews, is revealing his identity at his request. From the moment he decided to disclose numerous top-secret documents to the public, he was determined not to opt for the protection of anonymity. “I have no intention of hiding who I am because I know I have done nothing wrong,” he said.

Snowden will go down in history as one of America’s most consequential whistleblowers, alongside Daniel Ellsberg and Bradley Manning. He is responsible for handing over material from one of the world’s most secretive organisations – the NSA.

    government MISconduct that is. Wiki:

Judge Byrne dismissed all charges against Ellsberg and Russo on May 11, 1973 after the government claimed it had lost records of wiretapping against Ellsberg. Byrne ruled: "The totality of the circumstances of this case which I have only briefly sketched offend a sense of justice. The bizarre events have incurably infected the prosecution of this case.

He has had "a very comfortable life" that included a salary of roughly $200,000, a girlfriend with whom he shared a home in Hawaii, a stable career, and a family he loves. "I'm willing to sacrifice all of that because I can't in good conscience allow the US government to destroy privacy, internet freedom and basic liberties for people around the world with this massive surveillance machine they're secretly building."

He's holed up in Hong Kong. China will be involved. This should be interesting.

"All my options are bad," he said. The US could begin extradition proceedings against him, a potentially problematic, lengthy and unpredictable course for Washington. Or the Chinese government might whisk him away for questioning, viewing him as a useful source of information. Or he might end up being grabbed and bundled into a plane bound for US territory.

"Yes, I could be rendered by the CIA. I could have people come after me. Or any of the third-party partners. They work closely with a number of other nations. Or they could pay off the Triads. Any of their agents or assets," he said.

"We have got a CIA station just up the road – the consulate here in Hong Kong – and I am sure they are going to be busy for the next week. And that is a concern I will live with for the rest of my life, however long that happens to be."

Leading foreign policy analyst Steve Clemons said he witnessed a rather disturbing conversation while waiting for a flight at the Dulles airport on Saturday.

According to Clemons, four men sitting near him were discussing an intelligence conference they had just attended, and turned to the topic of the NSA leaks. One said that both the reporter and leaker should be “disappeared,” a term used to describe secret murders and abductions carried out by authoritarian governments. Clemons said on Twitter the suggestion seemed to be “bravado” and a “disturbing joke.” He said that the officials were talking loudly, “almost bragging.”

Explosions were heard by Reuters witnesses and there were reports of gunfire near Afghanistan’s main international airport in the capital, Kabul, early on Monday, and a police spokesman said insurgents had launched an attack.

The attack on the airport – which is also home to a large NATO-led military base – began shortly before 5 a.m. (0030 GMT), Kabul police spokesman Hashmat Stanekzai said. Explosions could still be heard several minutes after the attack began.
