Pope Francis begins 1st full day as pontiff with private prayer to Virgin Mary

He had told a crowd of some 100,000 people packed in rain-soaked St. Peter's Square just after his election that he intended to pray Friday to the Madonna "that she may watch over all of Rome."

This was the question I asked that priest at the candy mountain that day that got his frock all in a twist. By what biblical authority do you tell people to pray TO any one other than GOD himself? How is it not a first commandment violation to tell people to do this?

the answer I got was along the lines of : YOU CATHOLIC BASHER! ATTACKER OF RELIGION!

so the answer was there is no biblical authority to back it up and it is a first commandment violation.

    ATTACKER! HATER OF CATHOLICS!

Researchers have said that the number of Monarch butterflies in Mexico has shrunk to its lowest ever in the past two decades, reports the Los Angeles Times. The most likely cause of this decrease in population size could be the loss of habitat of these butterflies, along with warm weather in the U.S.

And while the operator would need to know enough about human anatomy to avoid getting lost, the incisions would be considerably smaller and in areas that heal more readily—in orifices such as the mouth, for example.

    ReplyDelete
  27. BabbaZee11:03 AM

As the clamp comes off and the scrambling subsides, that's when it sinks in. In this particular operating room and during this particular procedure, there's no place for autonomy or lightly trained technicians. You need experts to look at that tumor. You need Steve to reposition tissue and organs. You need multiple people making complex, sometimes urgent, decisions. And even if human judgment could be somehow distilled into code, our flesh is too unpredictable.

New York State officials, working with the city, have already uploaded students' names, addresses, test scores, learning disabilities, attendance and disciplinary records into the inBloom database, according to the Daily News.

Educational companies can use the data to create teaching tools for students.

China is building one of the world's largest drone fleets aimed at expanding its military reach in the Pacific and swarming U.S. Navy carriers in the unlikely event of a war, according to a new report.

The Chinese military — known as the People's Liberation Army (PLA) — envisions its drone swarms scouting out battlefields, guiding missile strikes and overwhelming opponents through sheer numbers. China's military-industrial complex has created a wide array of homegrown drones to accomplish those goals over the past decade, according to the report released by the Project 2049 Institute on March 11.

ROCKVILLE, Md. (CBSDC) – Vice President Joe Biden’s press office has apologized to the University
of Maryland following “pure intimidation” demands for a student
journalist to delete photos he took of a domestic violence event
    featuring Biden.

College Park Patch reports that a credentialed student from the Philip Merrill College of Journalism at the University of Maryland, Jeremy Barr, was snapping photos at the Rockville event when a Biden staffer began interrogating the student.

“Did you take any photos during the event,” Barr said he was asked by Biden staffer Dana Rosenzweig. “I need to see your camera right now,” she reportedly said after Barr confirmed he had taken photographs of the event that also featured Attorney General Eric Holder and Maryland Sen. Ben Cardin.

  128. Henri’s French Onion Soup

    Serves 6.

    INGREDIENTS
3 pounds yellow onions, cut into 1/8-inch pieces
    3 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/2 teaspoon table salt, plus more as needed
    1 pinch sugar
8 cups water , plus more as needed
    1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
    1 sprig fresh thyme
    1/4 cup dry white wine
    1 baguette , crusty
8 ounces Gruyère cheese-I sliced it thick and placed it over the top of the crock…..the cheese melted mostly into the soup and a little off to the sides, but it created a thick, even layer this way.
    INSTRUCTIONS

Melt butter in a large Dutch oven or soup pot over medium heat.
Add the onions, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and sugar. Toss to evenly coat.
Cover and cook for 10 minutes.
Take the cover off, and cook, stirring frequently, until the onions are lightly browned. I cooked mine for a little less than 90 minutes.
At this point, stir every 5 minutes and add water (a tablespoon at a time to loosen up the dark brown stuff that forms on the bottom of the pan).
Continue to cook until the onions are an even dark brown color, an additional 30 minutes longer or so.
Add the flour and stir for two minutes.
Add 8 cups water and thyme to the onions and bring to a boil.
Lower heat and simmer for 20 minutes.
Add white wine and simmer 10 minutes longer.
    Add salt to taste.
Meanwhile, heat the oven to 325 degrees and adjust a rack to the upper middle position.
Cut the baguette into 3/4 inch slices and arrange on a single layer on a cookie sheet.
Bake until the bread is dry, about 10 minutes. Remove bread slices and set aside.
Heat broiler and place 6 heatproof bowls in a baking sheet. Fill each bowl with about 2 cups soup. Top each with two baguette slices and evenly distribute cheese slices over the bread. Broil until well browned and bubbly, about ten minutes. Cool for five minutes before serving.

It's only missing one key ingredient. You need some pretty husky bread crumbs to "float" the cheese on top so that it can broil to a nice golden brown. up top. I've been making that since I was about 16.

I would stand to lose a small fortune (maybe not by other peoples standards, but certainly by mine), but I didn't want to get soaked by GovCo in taxes in 2013, and have been moving money off shore since I was younger than Tater.

It's not exactly like taking what cash I have and placing it beneath the mattress, but I listened closely to my grand parents growing up and the common theme was never trust the bankers, and never, ever trust a politician. Ever! As much as that might surprise them, I was actually listening to them. A 40% hit would suck, but I've created as much of a buffer as I've been able to. None of this comes as a surprise to me.

When my maternal grandfather passed away, my Uncle found all of these coffee cans up in the attic full of silver dollars and wads of cash. He also looted Grand Daddies gun safe. He called up years later wanting to reconcile and make things right with my mom I suppose. He took everything it seems. I hope he's comforted by that.

  134. “High capacity” mag ban could be an almost total mag ban

Colorado’s now nationally famous “high capacity” magazine ban could end up being much more widespread than anticipated according to lawmakers. During a late night debate in the Colorado Senate on Friday, Senator Kevin Lundberg (D-Berthoud) put forth the thesis that because the proposed ban includes magazines with more than 15 rounds, AND those which are “readily convertible” even those manufactured for smaller numbers are most likely to fall under the ban. Most magazines are designed to be pulled apart and cleaned and are therefore readily converted to a capacity above the proposed law. Our friend, Jon Caldara, of the Independence Institue, demonstrated the easy conversion in this video.

Despite Senator Lundberg’s argument, the bill passed out of the Colorado Senate has now passed conference committee and is headed to Governor John Hickenlooper for a vote. Although Governor Hickenlooper (@hickforco) has asserted signing the gun control bills won’t hurt his election chances, if he outlaws the future use of guns with almost any magazine not grandfathered under the ban, his political calculation in a state where guns are a deep-seated part of the culture is incredibly far off the mark.

Right around the corner from Tweet Central. Besides a couple of perfunctory boilerplate stories, and of course the victim's wife, no one noticed. No one cared. Why would they?
