  34. Madness, blindness, and confusion of mind- Sounds like last night. Some times the best of everything just lines up and goes perfect on you. We had clear skies, full moon, and shirtsleeve weather near midnight at the beach. Very rare, even here. I rode the back chopper and wore a chrome mask of Death. Mary was a witch on the long Schwinn cruiser. We had Abe Lincoln and vampires, and skulls. Rode back with a warm wind behind us. Old we get. Act our age we do not have to. Not yet anyway. Best hope for those in the storm's path.

Young King Arthur was ambushed and imprisoned by the monarch
of a neighboring kingdom. The monarch could have killed him but was
moved by Arthur's youth and ideals. So, the monarch offered him his
freedom, as long as he could answer a very difficult question. Arthur
would have a year to figure out the answer and, if after a year, he
still had no answer, he would be put to death.

The question?...What do women really want?

Such a question would perplex even the most knowledgeable
man, and to young Arthur, it seemed an impossible query. But, since it
was better than death, he accepted the monarch's proposition to have
    an answer by year's end.

He returned to his kingdom and began to poll everyone: the princess,
the priests, the wise men and even the court jester. He spoke with
everyone, but no one could give him a satisfactory answer.

Many people advised him to consult the old witch, for only she would have the answer.

But the price would be high; as the witch was famous throughout the kingdom for the exorbitant prices she charged.

The last day of the year arrived and Arthur had no choice but to
talk to the witch. She agreed to answer the question, but he would
have to agree to her price first.

The old witch wanted to marry Sir Lancelot, the most noble of the Knights of the Round Table and Arthur's closest friend!

Young Arthur was horrified. The witch was hunchbacked and hideous,
had only one tooth, smelled like sewage, made obscene noises, etc. He
had never encountered such a repugnant creature in all his life.

He refused to force his friend to marry her and endure such a
terrible burden; but Lancelot, learning of the proposal, spoke with
    Arthur.

Lancelot said nothing was too big of a sacrifice compared to Arthur's life and the preservation of the Round Table.

Hence, a wedding was proclaimed and the witch answered Arthur's question thus:

What a woman really wants, she answered....is to be in charge of her own life.

Everyone in the kingdom instantly knew that the witch had uttered a great truth and that Arthur's life would be spared.

And so it was, the neighboring monarch granted Arthur his freedom and Lancelot and the witch had a wonderful wedding.

The honeymoon hour approached and Lancelot, steeling himself for a
horrific experience, entered the bedroom. But, what a sight awaited
him. The most beautiful woman he had ever seen lay before him on the
bed. The astounded Lancelot asked what had happened

The beauty replied that since he had been so kind to her when she
appeared as a witch, she would henceforth, be her horrible deformed
self only half the time and the beautiful maiden the other half.

Which would he prefer? Beautiful during the day....or night?

Lancelot pondered the predicament. During the day, a beautiful woman
to show off to his friends, but at night, in the privacy of his
castle, an old witch? Or, would he prefer having a hideous witch
during the day, but by night, a beautiful woman for him to enjoy
    wondrous intimate moments?

Noble Lancelot said that he would allow HER to make the choice herself.

Upon hearing this, she announced that she would be beautiful all
the time because he had respected her enough to let her be in charge
    of her own life

Now....what is the moral to this story?

    The moral is.....

If you don't let a woman have her own way....

Things are going to get ugly!

If I’m missing or misunderstanding something here, let me know. (For what it’s worth, I’m seeing plenty of meteorologists on Twitter saying the same thing. They’re baffled by Bloomberg’s decision. So am I.)

UPDATE: I’ve now seen and read Bloomberg’s statement. It’s even worse than I thought. He said:

We are not ordering any evacuations as of this time for any parts of the city. We’re making that decision based on the nature of this storm. Although we’re expecting a large surge of water, it is not expected to be a tropical storm or hurricane-type surge. With this storm, we’ll likely see a slow pileup of water rather than a sudden surge, which is what you would expect from a hurricane, and which we saw with Irene 14 months ago.

So it will be less dangerous – but make no mistake about it, there will be a lot of water and low-lying areas will experience flooding. The City’s Departments of Transportation and Environmental Protection will be deployed throughout the city to address flooding conditions.

Let me be clear: I have literally no f***ing idea what Bloomberg is talking about. As closely as I’ve been following Sandy, I have not seen anyone else — literally not a single meteorologist or any other person — suggest that Sandy will produce a “slow pile up of water” rather than a typical “sudden” storm surge. On the contrary, AccuWeather’s Mike Smith writes:

“So it will be less dangerous.” We don’t know that to be the case. The latest barometric pressure associated with Sandy is 960 mb. It is forecast to drop to 937 mb when it is south of NYC (see posting below from 11:40pm CDT). With a pressure that low the winds and surge could be very comparable to a hurricane. It would be an all-time record low for the region, hurricane or not.

"The agency reacted quickly to aid our colleagues during that
terrible evening in Benghazi," said CIA spokeswoman Jennifer Youngblood.
"Moreover, no one at any level in the CIA told anybody not to help
those in need. Claims to the contrary are simply inaccurate.”

Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said there was not a clear enough
picture of what was occurring on the ground in Benghazi to send help.

"There's a lot of Monday morning quarterbacking going on here," he
said Thursday. "But the basic principle here ... is that you don't
deploy forces into harm's way without knowing what's going on."

Obama also said in the TV interview, as he said previously said, the
administration is going to “investigate what happened to make sure it
never happens again” and find out who was involved in the attack so
they can be brought to justice.

“I guarantee you that everybody in the State Department, our
military, CIA, you name it, have a No.1 priority making sure that people
are safe. These are our folks. And we're going to find out exactly what
happened but what we're also going to do is make sure that we are
identify those who carried out these terrible attacks,” the president
    said.

an hour of when the attacks started. He could have told him, “Yes. We
have special operations peope and F18 aircraft that could be deployed

    Down by the Riverside motel,
    It's 10 below and falling
By a 99 cent store she closed her eyes
    And started swaying
But it's so hard to dance that way
When it's cold and there's no music
Well your old hometown is so far away
But, inside your head there's a record
    That's playing, a song called

    Hold on, hold on
You really got to hold on
Take my hand, I'm standing right here

Why don't we liberate these United States,

We're the ones that need it worst.

Let the rest of the world help us for a change,

    And let's rebuild America first.

Our highways an' bridges are fallin' apart:

Who's blessed an' who has been cursed?

There's things to be done all over the world,

    But let's rebuild America first.

Who's on the Hill and who's watchin' the valley?

An' who's in charge of it all?

God bless the army an' God bless our liberty,

And dadgum the rest of it all.

Yeah, men in position are backin' away:

    Freedom is stuck in reverse.

Let's get out of Iraq an' get back on the track,

    And let's rebuild America first.

Why don't we liberate these United States,

We're the ones who need it the most.

You think I'm blowin smoke? Boys it ain't no joke.

I have found the perfect Halloween costume for Burlgar! Miss Oktoberbreasts!

They say breast is best - prove it when you suit up and serve them with a smile in this adult men's Miss Octoberbreast costume. Did we mention that the costume includes not just the blonde wig and classic beer girl outfit but a working beer
tap breast/beverage dispenser? It holds 400 ml so drink up!

    http://www.spirithalloween.com/product/fw-miss-oktoberbreast-adlt-std/

One of the reviews complains that pressure builds up in the beer tap/nipples and they start to spew.. that's not a bug that's a feature!

402 tasks identified and and communicated to the customer. This is shit that needs to happen when we're running out of time. I should have had this done last week. Friday would have been ideal.

As I mentioned to Q, I just ran out of gas. It happens sometimes. It was an excellent day for napping.

Last week the girl got conked in the head. The glass cover on her ceiling fan fell off and broke over her head. She got a concussion it seems. The wife took her to the doctors office this morning. She's upstairs and sleeping now. Both kids are magnets for concussions it seems.

Thankfully I didn't go let the neighbors dog out yet. I had my time(s) screwed up in my calendar. I'll have to go let the dog out once I get done with this call. I have to work tonight. I can't get the boy to soccer and the wife is working late. We'll spend all weekend running around what ever is left of the coast to soccer games.

getting together a care package for my buddies son. pretty nice swag really. A nice seiko perpetual motion chronograph. No worries about batteries out in the middle of BFE. Easy to see at night. I've gone through 3 since I was 18. It'll do just fine by him, is waterproof to 100 meters, and you can actually see what frickin time it is in the middle of the night when we typically work. The M-Frame Oakley's are nothing short of awesome. Ballistic glasses with 3 lenses for day or night with a cleaning kit and repair kit in a ballistic case. The boy is tossing in his S&W M&P knife. He idolizes Zach. Like the big brother Tater never had.
