Locals are invited to watch and to get in the action as extras.
The movie's plot is about a heist gone wrong.
City Manager Carol Thomas says the movie is bringing an economic windfall to Everett, by filling hotel rooms, dining out, buying supplies, and leasing office and warehouse space.
The city is even profiting from crime scenes. Thomas says the film crew is leasing police vehicles from the city and paying off-duty officers to drive them.
Thomas said Everett beat out other spots for the movie, in part because of the sunny weather six weeks ago when she showed movie scouts around town.
"They stood on Everett Avenue and saw the Cascades and turned around and saw the Olympics," Thomas said. "They loved Everett with the variety of landscapes. You can see the water, the cityscape and the country, all within a short distance of the base camp."

Most of us think of the great extermination camps, especially Auschwitz. We think of the industrial killing. But with the German attack on the Soviet Union on September 22, 1941, killing is everywhere in the villages, towns and cities. It is not industrial, it does not take place secretly, and it is not anonymous. There are pogroms by the Ukrainian and Romanian neighbors and the killing continues on a larger scale through mass executions by the SS and their helpers. It is a barbaric business that is done by bare hands, cudgels, saws and axes. A significant part of the cartridges, which still can be found at the sites of mass shootings, is pistol ammunition. The killing by the members of the SS often is done in short distance – face to face with the victims. The image we have of the Holocaust and that we pass on to future generations, requires correction to this terrible truth.

ReplyDeleteThis Lemony French Lentils with Shitake Mushrooms & Pan Seared Salmon recipe is inspired by a dish I had at Pappo while visiting friends in Alameda, CA.
I guess this is more of a how to put different things together post than a true recipe, but I have faith in your cooking abilities!
The French lentils are not only beautiful, but they retain their shape after being cooked unlike other lentils. Of course you know that salmon is good for you, and so is garlic. With a bit of earthy flavor from the shitake mushrooms and some brightness from the lemon, this dish really has a lot to offer.

He now must take a 10-day course of Valtrex, an anti-viral medication with (depending on your source of information) limited efficacy. I also bought pure aloe gel and colloidal silver to use as a topical ‘salve’ and GSE tablets for an internal boost. I will fight this virus with everything I can find.
