Today is the birthday of the great Romanian poet of light, Lucian Blaga (May 9, 1895 - 1961). From his 1919 debut volume of poetry Poemele luminii a poem in my translation…

    Lucian Blaga: Lovely Hands

    My prediction:
Lovely hands, which now enfold within
your warmth my head full of dreams,
you shall also in time enfold
    the urn holding my ashes.

    My dream:
Lovely hands, when warm lips shall blow
    my ashes into the wind
from the chalice of your palms,
    you shall be like flowers
whose pollen are swept away on the breeze.

    And my sorrow:
You shall be as youthful as you are now, lovely hands.

May 2, 1611 – The King James Bible is published for the first time in London, England, by printer Robert Barker…
The title page to the 1611 first edition of the Authorized Version Bible, engraved by Cornelis Boel, shows the Apostles Peter and Paul seated centrally above the central text, which is flanked by Moses and Aaron. In the four corners sit Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, authors of the four gospels, with their symbolic animals. The rest of the Apostles (with Judas facing away) stand around Peter and Paul. At the very top is the Tetragrammaton “יהוה”.

just went for a nice walk with the wife after a wonderful dinner. That was nice after spending a night stuck in the hospital. I couldn't even move until mid-night. They emptied a ton of pee-bottles. We're not talk 3 or 4 bottles. We're talking probably a dozen or more. Once I could have water I wasted no time in guzzling it down.

One of the most overlooked phenomena of our age is that Muslims are returning to Islam. This sounds redundant and meaningless, but I speak of a “lost history” that has blinded the West to the implications of this return. In short, because Islam is a religion that makes might right, after the Islamic world was subjugated by the West beginning with Napoleon’s easy conquest of Egypt in 1798, Muslims began seeing Westernization as pivotal to success, and thus largely turned their backs on Islam, being “Muslim” only in name. However, around mid-20th century, beginning in earnest in the “liberal” 1960s, when Western culture took a nosedive, became sexually and morally unrestrained, apologetic for itself and self-loathing, and seeing Western civilization, especially Christianity, as the root of the world’s sufferings, Muslims went from respecting and trying to emulate the West, to having great contempt for, and wanting nothing to do with, it, and naturally began returning to their own heritage, Islam and its Sharia—all of course to “multicultural” Western applause, since, to the West, Islam and its Sharia were, and continue to be portrayed, as great things. http://frontpagemag.com/2013/jamie-glazov/crucified-again-the-islamic-jihad-on-christians-exposed/

Ibrahim: To be sure, all non-Muslims living in the Islamic world are being targeted as infidels. However, for various reasons which I discuss in the book, Christians are by far the most prone to being attacked. At any rate, while the book focuses on Muslim attacks on Christians, as I conclude, that is ultimately a snapshot of what the Islamic world has in store for the rest of the world. Christian persecution is a picture of what Islam does—and will do—to all non-Muslims if and when it achieves dominance over them.

The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into an alleged plot to assassinate Ecumenical Orthodox Patriarch Bartholomew I on the 560th anniversary of the conquest of İstanbul by the Ottomans with police detaining one suspect and still seeking two others.

Private broadcaster NTV reported on Friday that the probe was launched on an anonymous letter sent to Kayseri Chief Public Prosecutor's Office which informed officials about the plot. According to the letter, Serdar A., who was later detained by police, and two other suspects, who have not yet been identified, were planning to assassinate Bartholomew on May 29, the anniversary of İstanbul's conquest. The letter said the suspects recently traveled to İstanbul as part of their plan.

Police detained Serdar A. as part of the investigation and are reportedly still searching for the two other suspects.

This is the second time Turkish authorities have discovered a plot to assassinate Bartholomew.

A separate case filed regarding another plot to assassinate the İstanbul-based leader of the world's Orthodox Christians was earlier merged with the ongoing investigation into Ergenekon, a suspected criminal network charged with plotting to overthrow the Turkish government

woke up with a pretty nasty bruise where a man shouldn't ever see a bruise. A little too close to my fella's. I'm feeling alright though. Just went outside to soak up a little sunshine on my face and was thinking this is like getting a great big hug from your dad, whiskers and all. Warm and comforting. In a lot of ways that I'll probably never be able to explain to anyone, I'm looking at life through different lenses, almost like seeing life through different eyes even.

I will dance a spastic dance of gratefulness. The artery they stented was 90% blocked. I could have klunked over at any given moment, but I didn't. It's a mystery to me and I suppose it will remain a mystery to me,..at least during this lifetime.

I am seeing life through different eyes. That's the best explanation I can provide at the moment. Not perspective, but different eyes.

  141. reminds me of my basil story....once in a land far away up north of here my old neighbor gave me a large bag of dried basil and I threw it on the console of my van and went to pick up my daughter at the mall. She had several boys with her who were going our direction so I had them hop in. I could hear the intake of breath when they saw my basil. I was famous. No power on earth could make them believe that it was basil.

Every time I hear this song it reminds me of the biggest mistake I made in my life. I met my true love in 7th grade. We saw each other for 2 years. 9th grade started and she was gone. What did I do? Where did she go? There was so much I wanted to say to her!! 35 years later (2009) I contacted her through her cousin. I told him that there were "Things I'd like To Say" to her, she called me the next day. We got married October 10, 2012. I am a Happy Content Man Now.

And the State Department has jurisdiction here because???

    http://www.statesman.com/news/news/blueprints-for-3-d-printer-gun-pulled-off-website/nXnbG/

A UT student who developed a plastic gun that can be built using a 3-D printer has pulled blueprints for the weapon off his website after the U.S. State Department demanded that he do so.

The agency sent Cody Wilson of Austin a cease and desist letter this week, telling him to pull the instructions from his website, www.defcad.org, because he did not have federal authorization to post the technical data online. Wilson complied and removed the instructions from his site.

Wilson wrote on his Twitter page that “#DEFCAD is going dark at the request of the SOS Department of Defense Trade Controls. Some shapes are more dangerous than others.”

A message on the site reads, “Until further notice, the United States government claims control of the information.”

In other Babylon downpression news.. IRS apologizes for targeting tea part groups

    http://www.statesman.com/news/ap/ohio/irs-apologizes-for-targeting-conservative-groups/nXnPP/

    WASHINGTON —

The Internal Revenue Service apologized Friday for what it acknowledged was "inappropriate" targeting of conservative political groups during the 2012 election to see if they were violating their tax-exempt status.

IRS agents singled out dozens of organizations for additional reviews because they included the words "tea party" or "patriot" in their exemption applications, said Lois Lerner, who heads the IRS division that oversees tax-exempt groups. In some cases, groups were asked for lists of donors, which violates IRS policy in most cases, she said.

Emotions Within Israel Run High Over Jewish Women’s Group Visit to the Western Wall

Now I'll be the first to admit that I'm pretty ignorant about the various forms of Judaism, but I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around this one. An IDF guy I met years ago explained it to me that it's like the holidays, when there are always at least two or three knock down, drag out fights, but woe to any outsider who harms anyone from their particular tribe, even if the two of the family members were trying to kill one another the previous week.

That means of course that pretty much the entire world is a bunch of sociopaths on the verge of killing one another at any given moment. Not exactly a comforting thought.
