Research at San Francisco General Hospital monitored the effects of prayer on 393 cardiac patients.

ReplyDeleteYesterday it was reported that FBI agents and local police SWAT along with the California Highway Patrol conducted a “massive sweep” of Oakland where they barricaded several streets and closed down certain parts of the town for more than an hour.

Armored vehicles and helicopters circling overhead assisted the patrols as law enforcement allegedly served warrants for drugs and weapons charges.
It’s reasonable to assume that the raids partially occurred as a result of SB 140‘s recent passage, an unconstitutional California bill touted as one that would expedite the confiscation of “illegal” firearms from people with “serious mental illness” and criminal convictions.
Reportedly, the tax-payer funded Oakland police did not feel it necessary to divulge details to news crews the night of the raid, saying “they were not at liberty to discuss what the action concerned.”

ReplyDeleteIn 1980, a 3-minute song changed his life. His longtime producer, Billy Sherrill, recommended he record "He Stopped Loving Her Today," a ballad by Curly Putnam and Bobby Braddock. The song took more than a year to record, partly because Jones couldn't master the melody, which he confused with Kris Kristofferson's "Help Me Make it Through the Night," and partly because he was too drunk to recite a brief, spoken interlude ("She came to see him one last time/And we all wondered if she would/And it kept running through my mind/This time he's over her for good.")
ReplyDelete"Pretty simple, eh?" Jones wrote in his memoir. "I couldn't get it. I had been able to sing while drunk all of my life. I'd fooled millions of people. But I could never speak without slurring when drunk. What we needed to complete that song was the narration, but Billy could never catch me sober enough to record four simple spoken lines."
Jones was convinced the song was too "morbid" to catch on. But "He Stopped Loving Her Today," featuring a string section that hummed, then soared, became an instant standard and virtually canonized him. His concert fee jumped from $2,500 a show to $25,000.

ReplyDeleteTACOMA, Wash. (AP) - A Tacoma judge has repeated his order to police to return a small amount of marijuana seized in a traffic stop.
ReplyDeleteTacoma Municipal Court Judge Jack Emery said Thursday police could be found in contempt unless they comply with his order within seven days.
The News Tribune reports ( http://bit.ly/10hwiD9) the judge first ordered police to return the drug on Feb. 28, but they have refused.
It was seized in May of last year when an officer pulled over Joseph L. Robertson for speeding. He was cited for driving without a license and misdemeanor marijuana possession. Prosecutors dismissed the drug charge in December, after state voters decided to legalize small amounts of the drug.
The case could be appealed. The judge called conflicting state and federal marijuana laws a "quagmire."

ReplyDeleteYou have to join. Open an account. Minimum amount varies. Do you have equity? In this state, you can get a home equity loan from a credit union as a first mortgage up to 80% of home value. That's how I paid off my old FHA, took out some cash and reduced my payment. Rules vary state by state though. The advantage for me was bypassing all the new federal mortgage regs, and they are much easier on the self-employed than a regular bank. Was quite painless. Check around and see what's available in your area.
