The proposed bill states:
A person is guilty of a class A misdemeanor if such person knowingly creates or assists in creating an image of the exterior of any residential dwelling in this state where such image is created by or with the assistance of a satellite, drone, or any device that is not supported by the ground. This prohibition shall not apply where the image does not reveal forms identifiable as human beings or man-made objects. In this paragraph, “dwelling” means any building, structure, or portion thereof which is occupied as, or designed or intended for occupancy as, a residence by one or more individuals.
This bill would forbid you from tossing a camera two feet into the air with the shutter-timer feature activated. And Kite aerial photographers will have to switch to pole cams, I guess.

Q. Nasty Surprise: When my wife and I met in college, the attraction was immediate, and we quickly became inseparable. We had a number of things in common, we came from the same large metropolitan area, and we both wanted to return there after school, so everything was very natural between us.
ReplyDeleteWe married soon after graduation, moved back closer to our families, and had three children by the time we were 30. We were both born to lesbians, she to a couple, and me to a single woman.
She had sought out her biological father as soon as she turned 18, as the sperm bank her parents used allowed contact once the children were 18 if both parties consented. I never was interested in learning about that for myself, but she felt we were cheating our future children by not learning everything we could about my past, too.
Well, our anniversary is coming up and I decided to go ahead and, as a present to my wife, see if my biological father was interested in contact as well. He was, and even though our parents had used different sperm banks, it appears so did our father, as he is the same person.
On the one hand, I love my wife more than I can say, and logically, done is done, we already have children. I have had a vasectomy, so we won't be having any more, so perhaps there is no harm in continuing as we are.
But, I can't help but think "This is my sister" every time I look at her now. I haven't said anything to her yet, and I don't know if I should or not. Where do I go from here?
I am tempted to burn everything I got from the sperm bank and just try to forget it all, but I'm not sure if I can. Please help me figure out where to go from here.

ReplyDeleteonce the kids leave the house, I think I'd like a small cabin. Maybe a couple bedrooms and a couple baths. have room for a comfy camper when the kids or other company came to visit. I'd want a pretty good size workshop, or maybe a barn and make a section of it my workshop. I'd like a well-worn path between the house and my workshop. A fishing pond would be a bonus.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to just slow down and enjoy life for a while as long as I'm able to. Nothing fancy. Very low key. A few acres and lots of woods to wander around in. That would be a wonderful retirement. Provided my health holds up, I can retire in less than ten years. Is good to have a goal.

better start looking around now then. If need be, you'll have to find a Federally Licensed Firearms dealer and ship point to point. I would recommend a Ruger Judge. If one part of the brain gets damaged, for instance, the information that used to flow to the damaged sector is often re-routed, and another part of the brain takes on the job of processing it.
So these newer findings got the Tufts University researchers wondering: could the optic nerve really be the only route for incoming visual signals? And could a different part of the nervous system, like the nerves further down the spinal cord, process those signals on their own, without help from the brain?
Tadpoles, they realized, would be a good way to test this question: they would perform surgery at a time when the tadpoles were still developing, so that the transplanted eyes would have time to put down nerve roots that could potentially hook up to the rest of the tadpoles' nervous systems.
The surgeries were painstaking, but the researchers were able to successfully graft eyeballs onto the tails of over 200 tadpole embryos:

The 16-year-old Cypress Lake High student in Fort Myers, Fla. told WFTX-TV there was “no doubt” he saved a life after grappling for the loaded .22 caliber revolver being aimed point-blank at another student on Tuesday.
“I think he was really going to shoot him right then and there,” said the suspended student, not identified by WFTX because of safety concerns. “Not taking no pity.”

Garlic Scallops

1 lb Alaska Scallops
1 medium sized
Onion, diced finely
4 to 6 cloves of Garlic, finely chopped or crushed
1 Tbsp Olive Oil
1/2 cup Pouring
Cream
4 spring Onions, sliced Chinese style (on an angle)
splash of White Wine
1 Tbsp finely chopped
Chives or Parsley
For this recipe, fry garlic and onion with oil in a medium hot pan for 2 minutes, but don't allow to color. Add scallops, lightly cook on one side for 20 seconds.
Continue to rum and cook for another 20 seconds and then remove from pan. On medium to high heat, add the splash of white wine to pan and reduce for 1 minute. Add
cream and reduce until the sauce thickens to a nice
coating consistency. Add scallops, spring onions and gently toss in sauce for about 1 minute. Place garlic scallops on big mound of rice pilaf and pour over sauce, then garnish with chives or parsley.
Serves 4 to 6.

Appearing on Glenn Beck‘s radio show this past week, Dr. Benjamin Carson took a vastly different stance from most conservatives on the issue of gun control, claiming you shouldn’t be able to own semi-automatic weapons in large cities.
Carson became a newfound conservative hero last month when he spoke at the National Prayer Breakfast and laid out a series of criticisms of ObamaCare, political correctness, and tax policy right in front of the president himself. Many called the speech “inappropriate” given the apolitical nature of the event, but many conservatives lauded Carson for his “bold” and “sensible” suggestions for policy reform.
Asked by Beck for his thoughts on the Second Amendment, Carson gave the popular pro-gun argument: “There’s a reason for the Second Amendment; people do have the right to have weapons.”
But when asked whether people should be allowed to own “semi-automatic weapons,” the doctor replied: “It depends on where you live.”

ReplyDeleteThe sauce was butter, onions, garlic lightly sauteed, then added white wine, and once that reduced I added heavy cream and let that reduce. That was poured over a platter of Risotto and then the Scallops were placed on top of the Risotto.
It took a long time, but it was worth it.

As I said before, I don’t think anyone has taken into account – well, maybe someone has, but that’s not a comforting thought – that while this crew in power is playing at being “more sensitive than you” they’re giving signals to a lot of very bad actors. The crew in power might be ill-intentioned (mostly I think they’re power-greedy and trying to cover it up by doing the things they’ve been told are “good”) but I suspect they honestly believe that if we unilaterally disarm we’ll be safe. Don’t laugh. A lot of my colleagues believed that all through the eighties. It has nothing to do with intelligence, but with having lived quiet, sheltered prosperous lives where the wildest environment they knew was their kindergarten class.
